NY Post: Pataki's Judge Pick May Be "Chucked" Out

Sen. Charles Schumer is blocking Gov. Pataki's effort to secure a federal judgeship for Lt. Gov. Mary Donohue, The Post has learned.

"Chuck has put his finger on Mary's nomination," a top state Republican said yesterday.

"He's made it clear to the White House that he's not interested in having her as Pataki's nominee for a judgeship. He seems inclined to wait until next year, when, presumably, a Democrat will be governor" and a different nominee for the post would be put forward, the senior Republican continued.

Despite being next in line to Pataki to lead the state, Donohue has been one of the lowest-profile lieutenant governors in modern history and is widely seen as having been given little to do by the governor during her two terms in office.
