NAACP urges Justice Department to block New Orleans elections
NEW ORLEANS N-double-A-C-P President Bruce S- Gordon says holding the upcoming mayoral election would be illegal unless dramatic steps are taken to reach out to more of the mostly black people who have been displaced around the nation.

Gordon, who heads the national black civil rights organization, is urging the Department of Justice to block the April 22nd election and to force major changes to an emergency election plan cobbled together by Louisiana officials.

Before the election can take place, the Justice Department must give its blessing.

1. lets hope it works- New Oreans may well fall into the hands of the GREEDY
carpetbaggers-
That's right --I said "carpetbaggers"
--
and if this sounds funny to those who have never lived there then laugh as you will-

The outside "influences" are not welcome--
These outsiders may "think" it's just like any other place but it's not.
New Orleans has traditionally been a country unto itself-
It is controlled by mysterious powers or forces- financially, culturally, and etherically--
(what does that mean right?)-(you'd never know unless you're from there- and even then half the people are unaware)
I'l just put it thisaway--I truly feel sorry for those who would try and challenge "the powers that be" in N.O.
They will not fare well.

the Bush /Cheney Crime Family Empire can never and WILL never include New Orleans-
It belongs to the people..and always will.

Even after it fell during the Civil War, the North could not control the city.

Walk on Guilded Splinters.

3. 1-866-OUR-VOTE
Have her call the NAACP and they will help her get an absentee ballot.
Or she/you can go to Secty of State site -it is very confusing - <http://www.sec.state.la.us/elections/elect-absentee.htm>. If you send me info, I can walk you through the process, as well.

5. NAACP NOW calls for blocking the election
TODAY, March 15th, the NAACP takes a stronger stance and calls for the DOJ to CANCEL the election.
Based on interviews and investigation, the NAACP has decided that the State of Louisiana's plan for the April 22nd election violates Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act.

6. The powers-that-be are trying to steamroll this election
so they can exclude the "people who left".. That's how they are being portrayed these days.. They are all living the "vida loca" on that $2K debit card...living large in palatial apartments and fending multiple high-paying job offers..:puke:

and at the hearings last week, some weasel pretty much denied the NAACP any listing of where the people even were, because it was "confidential"............translation: We don't want 'those folks' back..ever..so there's no reason for them to vote.

10. We WILL be bussing people in to vote.
Because of the convulted legislation passed in Louisiana, if you register to vote between now and March 22nd, you can NOT vote absentee.
