Attacking Iran Should Be An Option: Britain's Tories
Military action against Iran should not be ruled out to deal with its controversial nuclear programme, a newspaper quoted Britain's main opposition Conservative Party as saying.

"Every pressure must be brought," Fox was quoted as saying in a speech to the right-wing Heritage Foundation Thursday.

The Times newspaper said the party's defence spokesman Liam Fox told US Republicans in Washington that British Prime Minister Tony Blair should follow President George W. Bush's example and leave all options on the table.

2. Y'know, I don't recall anyone...
... going apeshit over apartheid South Africa developing nuclear weapons, nor did the UK or US go absolutely bonkers and threaten India with attack for doing the same. And, for sure, many in those countries' intelligence services knew Pakistan was doing the same, and even though India and Pakistan were periodically at war over still-contested territory, there were no calls to attack them.

So, what's the difference now? Somehow, I think that's obvious.

3. Tories move to heal White House rift
The Tories will today seek to end an extraordinary rift with their natural allies in the White House with a staunch statement of support for President George W Bush over the need to stop Iran having a nuclear weapon

The nadir of the Tories' standing in Washington came in 2004 when Karl Rove, President George W Bush's chief adviser, made clear Michael Howard would not be welcome in the White House after he attacked Mr Blair over Iraq.

4. Do the Tories stand for anything
I find it hard to believe the Tories were actually against the War in Iraq. It seemed to me they only opposed the war only because Tony Blair supported it. With these comments now, my skepticism is confirmed.

9. They didn't oppose the war at the time
16 Tories voted against the invasion, but 139 voted for it. If 90 of those had voted against the invasion, it would have been defeated in Parliament. The Tories have just said that the occupation was incompetently handled.

8. So the UK
should also be on the list of countries worthy of attack. I too believe that "every pressure must be brought" on these mindless assholes. The future of war may just be civil at this rate.
