Democrats lambaste 'tepid' US response to Al-Qaeda escapes

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Senate Democrats lambasted the George W. Bush administration's "totally inadequate" response to the escape in Yemen this week of 23 Al-Qaeda members.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan on Monday told reporters that the prison break -- which included a man convicted in the deadly bombing of the USS Cole in 2000 -- was a "disappointing development."

Democratic US Senators Chuck Levin and Charles Schumer said a much more forceful administration response is called for.

"We're dismayed by the administration's tepid response," Levin, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said at a press conference.

"It's not 'disappointing.' It's down-right appalling that this escape happened," said Levin as he called on the George W. Bush administration to press Yemen for answers.

2. Honestly...
It's all over the news whenever we kill or capture a "suspected" terrorist or bomb a bunch of innocents...but when a bunch of GUILTIES escape, mum's the word. Liberal media...right.

And there will no doubt be a slight rise in airline ticket sales.

5. I was kind of thinking the opposite...
That between the escapes in Yemen and the church burnings, the Terra, Terra, Terra administration would be feeling disappointed that more attention was not being paid to (ie. diverted from their culture of corruption) this news.

6. Haven't you learned anything?
Democrats are soft on terror and are al Qaeda allies. The media said so :sarcasm:
