Ahmadinejad orders resumption of direct flights to US

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ordered resumption of direct flights to the US after a 26-year break.
Nourollah Rezaei-Niaraki, head of the Civil Aviation Organization, said the US aviation organisations had been informed of the development.

Iranians residing in the US had asked Ahmadinejad to facilitate their travel to their home country by resuming direct flights, the official said.

The US is home to millions of Iranians who are forced to fly first to a European destination or to Dubai before arriving here.
