WP: Mike Malloy to CPAC: Get Lost!

For next month's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), media director Andrea Saul sent 500 invitations to radio talk shows inviting them to broadcast from the Omni Shoreham Hotel. This is one of the big lovefests for those who want to hear from Vice President Cheney, Sen. George Allen and Ann Coulter; its "Radio Row" allows everyone easy access to the airwaves. Although most of the broadcasters on-site are darlings of the right, Saul also contacted several liberal hosts and producers -- last year Al Franken came and debated G. Gordon Liddy.

One of the invitations reached lefty Air America Radio's Mike Malloy, who hosts a nightly program carried by 70 stations across the country (though not in Washington) and on XM satellite radio. Malloy wrote:

"Um . . . you're kidding, right? Why would I have any desire whatsoever to attend or participate in a convocation of neo-Nazis????? I had two uncles fight against you in WW2. And, now, surprise! surprise! here you all are on US soil. Kindly get the off my email. Thanks."

Malloy said yesterday that he shot off his e-mail after scanning the CPAC headliners listed on the invite. "I made the assumption it was from some right-wing nutcase, which I get scores of. I felt I was being baited by one of these groups," he said, "so I responded immediately."

A year or so ago a couple of my "conservative" friends that it would be funny to put my name on the Republican Party mailing list. What they didn't know is how I would respond.

I got the letter thanking me for joining and wanting me to donate money.

I wrote back something like this, "I'd never contribute money to anyone who wants to legislate freedom and write discrimination into the Constitution. I'd rather take my chances at a luncheon with Hannibal Lecter and Jeffary Dahmer." That was the gist of it anyway. LOL

Maybe I'm slow ... but see I just figured out how to download the Malloy podcast onto my laptop. Here in Denver, the show isn't broadcast until 11:00 PM -- too late for staying awake.

Absolutely, this is the best show on Air America. He's as funny as hell. Of course, the best thing is that he IS telling the truth.

And, I can't tell you how much I appreciate Mike's trying to hold the Democrats feet to the fire. (Problem is that they apparently don't have much feeling left in their feet.)

Furthermore, I agree. If he went to the CPAC gathering, he could crush them all.

Hosts are Liz Dolan and her four sisters, who live in different parts of the world. They're one third politics, two thirds women's lifestyle, and suitable easy listening for Sunday mornings (where AirAm carried them in NYC). I don't see them doing well in Mike's time slot, but since the syndicators paid up front, ratings (and Mike insists he has very good ratings considering his time slot) aparently aren't an object.

I am a Black female from East Tennessee (ALCOA) and I have
never admired any man as much as I do this man.  I have
listened to him on and off for about 3 years.  I love him more
every day.  My best friend lives in Ackworth, GA and I have
been bragging about him for years.  Now she too listens to
him.  She has even met him.  Mike Malloy is the type of White
man who gives me hope that there is a chance for this nation. 
I like him, hate these people, but realize they too must have
a purpose (I have yet to realize what).  I need to say again -
Mike, keep up the good work.

I have search DU all over and can not find any resent info on the Air America Radio station Phoenix 1010 Talk KXXT. I just was hoping maybe one of you all might be able to give me an idea where to find this info. I understood that they were out at the end of this month. However tried it today and there was no connection. http://www.1010kxxt.com/ Does not work anymore. I just didn't expect it to stop broadcasting until the very end of January.
Just worried about the people in Phoenix/Arizona having a voice, and if 1010KXXT is not there who will give them the Liberal Voice they need.
Sorry to bring in a different subject, but I thought that you all might be able to help me. I have spent an 1 1/2hrs looking for some kind of info that is up to date, but to no avail.
