Anti-terrorism official says WMD attack inevitable
Anti-terrorism official says WMD attack inevitable
Mon Jan 16, 2006 9:39 PM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - A terrorist attack using weapons of mass destruction in a Western country is inevitable, a senior U.S. anti-terrorism official said in an interview published on Tuesday.

Speaking to Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, Henry Crumpton, the U.S. State Department coordinator for counter-terrorism, said he feared the threat from biological weapons was rising.

"I rate the probability of terror groups using WMD as very high," he was quoted as saying. "It is simply a question of time.

"It is not just the nuclear threat that bothers me. I think, if anything, the biological threat is going to grow."

1. Well, it already happened in Japan, with the Sarin gas incident...
But that was in 1995, and as we know, 9/11 changed everything, and anything that happened before then is irrelevant.

34. And there was no way that one "suspect" could have done anything....
...but his teaching and consulting career was ruined because Ashcroft had to publicly "show results" of the investigation.

31. Gas is not a WMD no matter what they try to tell you
High explosives are far more deadly than gas bombs. gas dissipates way to quickly to do any good and unless it is confined it is almost worthless. If it is confined, by definition, it can not be mass destruction. Now biological on the other hand is a tremendous fear. Look what we did to Native Americans with our smallpox blankets...In fact with the criminality of this Administration I am amazed that they have not unleashed some biological attack on the Middle East.

Was this story timed to coincide with the end of the season premiere of 24? Is it coincidence or a well coordinated fear mongering campaign sponsored by our own government?

8. seeing as the USA is just full of WMD's
.
.
.

and pissing off the people they train to kill other people

I agree

It's just a matter of time that the right crazy person finds the right button . . .

AND

on top of that - I'm sure there are a few relatives in the USA that have had loved ones killed or maimed in the Middle East under the guise of the USA's "freedom" thingie . . .

The USA has made a lot of enemies under the watch of Bush 2. And many of them are already in the country -

So yes, in that respect, I would be worried if I lived down there

But thank the gods/godesses that I live up here - -

37. ty sai
.
.
.

To me it's a glaring statement of the decline of the USA morality -

Nothing personal, but I do hold a great portion of the USA electorate responsible for allowing a madman like George Bush to reign down there

And as much as I like the geography and most of the people I met while living in the USA over 20 years ago - I will never cross the border in my lifetime unless there is a major regime change down there

I think you will understand . . .

21. Planes will crash. Hurricanes and Earthquakes will happen.
And--how 'bout that?--WMD attacks are inevitable. This isn't news. It's government propaganda that can be trotted out any damn time they want, because it's true no matter when you announce it.

Time to beat some more fear into everyone.

he sure as hell didn't protect us from them terrorists that bombed the twin towers. He even knew who was planning the attack but that didn't stop it. So how can brush protect us now?

36. actually, it's not inevitable. all we have to do is get bush's numbers
back up above 50% and make the administration believe they're the darling of the world.

otherwise, we'll be threatened with wmd attacks until they sink low enough and there actually is one.

so protect your fellow americans. if a pollster calls, remind them how great our fearless leader is.
