Schwarzenegger unveils $222bn public works plan
Schwarzenegger unveils $222bn public works plan
By Christopher Parkes in Los Angeles

Arnold Schwarzenegger stunned Democrats and Republicans alike this week with proposals for a grandiose $222bn design to rebuild California's infrastructure.

Striving to restore his battered reputation, the Republican governor devoted his annual address to the legislature to his dream of giant public works projects, reminiscent of those in the mid-1900s that drew investment and migrants to the state in unprecedented volumes.

Initial reactions wavered between applause for his vision, worry about how to pay for it and suspicion that the speech was part of his re-election campaign.

But Dianne Feinstein, the popular Democratic senator, was quick to offer help rounding up matching federal funds to complement Mr Schwarzenegger's proposal to raise $68bn (£38bn) from state bonds over 10 years.
(snip/...)

...first acknowledge his mistakes and apologize to the teachers and nurses he spent the first part of his term bashing and trying to bankrupt.

(Edited to add: And a moratorium on the death penalty might be in order, also.)

4. Here is a clue Ahnold, If you want reelection switch parties
I bet if he switched to a Democrat those sex scandals would suddenly become front page issues and every right wing pundit would be in continuous attack mode going into lurid detail. It would be quite interesting indeed.
