PINOCHET'S FINGERPRINTS TAKEN
29.12.2005. 11:51:33

Former Chilean dictator General Augusto Pinochet has been fingerprinted and photographed for the first time as police opened a criminal investigation into his alleged role in the deaths of political opponents in 1975.

Officers went to General Pinochet's home in the elegant La Dehesa neighborhood of the Chilean capital Santiago where has been under house arrest for five weeks.

General Pinochet was fingerprinted and photographed with police taking both a head shot and profile.

Judge Victor Montiglio, who ordered the procedure, granted a A$63,000 bail to the former strongman. The bail must be ratified by a court of appeals.

It was the first time ever that the former Chilean president has been officially booked.

I don't care if he is infirm and on oxygen, he should swing from a rope until he breathes his last breadth.

Pinochet Booked for Operation Colombo

Santiago, Dec 8 (Prensa Latina) Ex Dictator Augusto Pinochet was formally booked by police officers and civil registration employees at his home Wednesday, at the orders of Judge Victor Montiglio for the ex president´s role in Operation Colombo.

Operation Colombo was a collaboration of repressive forces from the dictatorships of Argentina, Brazil and Chile that tried to make it appear that leftwing revolutionary movements had killed the victims in an internal struggle.

Pinochet was arrested November 24 for his responsibility for six of the 119 political activists who disappeared in this repressive South American operation in 1974 and 1975.

The booking of the ex president, consisting of fingerprinting and photos with police number, had been requested by prosecutor Hernan Quezada when Pinochet lost his Supreme Court appeal, although this procedure was not done for his previous charges.

Augusto Pinochet has been arrested as co-perpetrator of the qualified kidnapping of the Carlos and Also Perez brothers, Bernardo de Castro, Roberto Aranda, Modesto Espinoza and Manuel Acuna, who disappeared at the hands of the National Intelligence Office.

9. It's a damned shame they can't charge him with the deaths of the
many thousands of people who were murdered, tortured to death, or simply thrown out of airplanes and helicopters, when he was responsible for them, too.

As the old bastard said, "Not a blade of grass moves in Chile without my permission." He IS responsible for this horrid, fiendish blood bath, and he gave himself a bonus by running off with millions and millions from Chile's treasury.

Too bad Nixon will never be forced to atone for his part, and Kissinger will keep on dodging confrontation about his participation and stage-managing. A lot of people wanted Kissinger to answer years ago.

Kissinger & the old bastard
in their glory days.

Court Withdraws Pinochet´s Privileges

Santiago de Chile, Dec 30 (Prensa Latina) Santiago´s Court of Appeals has withdrawn ex dictator Augusto Pinochet of his parliamentary privileges so he can be tried for another charge for misappropriation of public funds in the Riggs case, legal sources indicated Friday.

The ruling, passed by 21 votes against three, adds a new crime to the investigation Judge Carlos Cerda is pursueing on the origin of Pinochet´s fortune, estimated at over 27 million dollars.

Pinochet had been already removed of his immunity as former president and tried by judge Cerda last November 23 for tax evasion, forging public instruments and false declaration of assets since 1989.

According to previous investigations, his wealth mainly comes from the purchase and smuggling of amrs for Chile´s Armed Forces and embezzlement of public funds.

17. Hi, seemslikeadream. Thanks for posting those great links.
Your hard work reminds us there is SO MUCH which has been glossed over, or hidden altogether until we start paying attention.

Everything looks so much different when you start becoming conscious, doesn't it? It all needs to be examined, and that takes time. So many people assume what cable tv tells them is all they'll ever need to know.

It's a shock when something finally makes it through the heavy propaganda insulation.

18. Chilean court hands Pinochet twin setbacks
Chilean court hands Pinochet twin setbacks
Fri Dec 30, 2005 6:10 PM GMT

SANTIAGO, Chile (Reuters) - Ailing former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet suffered two legal setbacks on Friday -- he was stripped of his immunity in a fraud case and his house arrest was allowed to extend beyond the New Year's Eve, prompting his lawyer to decry his "unceasing persecution."

Pinochet, who ruled Chile for 17 years after leading a 1973 coup, has been under house arrest since November on a series of human rights charges related to the murder and disappearance of leftists during his dictatorship.

A Chilean appeals court stripped Pinochet, 90, of his immunity from prosecution so he can face new charges for abuse of funds in a $27 million (15.7 million pounds) tax fraud case.

Judges from the Santiago Court of Appeals voted 21-3 to strip the retired general of his immunity for a second time regarding charges related to millions of dollars he allegedly hid in foreign bank accounts.

He can appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
