BOSTON (Reuters) - A Midwest Airlines passenger aircraft landed safely at Boston's Logan Airport on Tuesday after circling the airport for over an hour to dump fuel following a problem with its landing gear shortly after takeoff.
Television images showed that Midwest Flight 210 from Boston to Milwaukee had landed safely shortly before 10 p.m. EST (0300 GMT). Sparks flew from the right main landing gear as the aircraft's wheels made contact with the runway.
Authorities said there were about 90 passengers and crew on board the aircraft. Phil Orlandella, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Port Authority said there had been a possible problem with the Boeing 717's right landing gear.
He said it had been expected to make a safe landing. "This sounds precautionary," the spokesman said.
