Defense Department settles with Linda Tripp
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2003-11-03-tripp-lawsuit_x.htm

WASHINGTON (AP) — Linda Tripp will get more than $595,000 from the Defense Department to settle a lawsuit over the release of confidential personal information about her to a magazine, her lawyers said Monday.
Based on information supplied by Pentagon officials in 1998, The New Yorker reported Tripp did not admit an arrest on her security application for her job at the Defense Department. She had been arrested for grand larceny when she was a teenager.
Tripp, whose secret tapes of conversations with Monica Lewinsky helped lead to President Clinton's impeachment trial, sued the Defense Department two years ago, alleging violations of the Privacy Act. She had worked for the department as a public affairs specialist.

As part of the settlement, Tripp gets a one-time payment of $595,000, a retroactive promotion and retroactive pay at a higher salary level for 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Gee..one has to wonder how much fun it must be for her to come to work every day and how much fun it must be for her co-works also. I’d hate to be her immediate supervisor…gives me the heebe-jeebes thinking about it.

1. That bitch
The nerve of someone who secretly taped her "friend" and then released those tapes to further her own political agenda, to sue using the Privacy Act is perverse. I hate her :grr:

6. The word is that she didn't do much in her Pentagon job.
By the way, Ken Bacon, who was the Defense Department spokesman under Clinton, went off to work at Refugees International.

Linda Tripp, who was the all-purpose turncoat, went off to a career of bitching about her hard lot.

I guess we know what kind of "values" she represents...

3. I really don't believe this - Tripp
lied on her application and if I recall correctly, that is grounds for dismissal - maybe it's because she was a teenager and it wasn't supposed to show up anywhere. I just don't know. She was not prosecuted for breaking the law and she gets a windfall and a promotion. I'm in the wrong business.

5. she doesn't work there any more, you know
The last news about her was that she was living in rural Virginia and was the proprietor of a Christmas shop. No kidding.

It's mind-boggling to think that she lied on her application for federal employment and isn't punished for that.

Linda Tripp to open Christmas shop in Middleburg
Associated Press

Last updated 1:20 PM Nov. 22

MIDDLEBURG -- Linda Tripp is going into business with the Christmas Sleigh, a year-round holiday shop scheduled to open next month in Virginia horse country.
After her involvement in the impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton, Tripp moved to a cottage near Middleburg, about 40 miles west of Washington.

``It's pretty discreet -- that's why Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis moved here, because they left her alone,'' said Dee Dee Hubbard, president of the Middleburg Business Association. ``We've had bigger and more important celebrities. I've got Liz Taylor, Robert Duvall, Paul Mellon, John Kent Cooke. And then Linda Tripp? People here aren't star-struck.''

8. And to think - the whole Monica thing woulda never happened.
Linda lied to get her job. She meets Monica through her job. Clinton might have still gotten his BJ, but the world would never have known, there would have been no Paula Jones lawsuit, because trapping him in a lie was the whole point of the suit.

12. OMG. I need to get my brain washed now!
Please, God, remove the image of Linda Tripp in a Repuke Christmas sweater from my brain!

That horrid , um, person! You know, I have known several similar individuals who have worked the system in institutional jobs, i.e., Govt, or large Corporations, even a *Church* (!) who have gotten big payoffs for going away quietly when *they've* been guilty of crimes or sexual harrassment or other massive misdeeds. If you don't have a conscience, you can get away with just about anything.

But just remember, she needs to look in the mirror every day.

BTW, I heard that she lets her dog poop on other people's yards, too! A repuke trait if I ever heard of one!

9. Linda Tripp get $595,000 and Harriet Tubman get's $11,750 retroactive
for her service to the US Government.

Sorry, but I don't 'get' it?

By Associated Press
October 30, 2003, 3:20 PM EST
AUBURN, N.Y. -- The U.S. government is finally settling up with abolitionist Harriet Tubman for her service as a scout, nurse and spy during the Civil War.
An appropriations bill headed to President Bush includes $11,750 to preserve and maintain the Harriet Tubman Home in Auburn -- an amount equal to the pension Tubman should have received from 1899 to 1913 if calculated in today's values

16. Can you believe this biotch?
She tapes her "friend" and gives her leading questions to answer, runs her fat ass over to Ken Starr as fast as she can waddle, THEN has the nerve to complain that her privacy was invaded? I'm not one for public floggings, but I think in this case I'll make the exception...

I hope her, Starr, Hyde, Barr, Gingrich, and the rest of that uhnoly cabal has a special place in hell, right next to the furnace.

19. I would do that at this point for a quick buck
if I got to do it to BushCo.

My older brother always told me never to start a fight.
He also followed that by telling me to make sure I ended them.
The NeoCons have taken the ultimate sucker punch at everything I love,
starting with the constitution and working their way down to the EPA and Amtrak.

I would love to find a Democrat with a Scaife sized war chest and
a penchant for seeing things melt down in public.
I would love to be the Segretti of my generation.

"as part of a settlement of lawsuits" -Bush chose to pay her as reward

They can't even pay out their bribe and hush money without putting the touch on Uncle Sam.

And Bush has made a nice anti-Clinton headline out of Bush giving away US monies.

Funny how no one in the media spins it this way.

27. An award for what she had done
Former FBI director Hoover held large quantity of black material of Presidents and Senators. With these material he blackmailed the politicians. That's why he could stay at that post as long as he wished.

In leuwinsky scandal, Linda Trip provided Starr's office with 20 hours secretly taped phone conversation in which Leuwinsky talked about her affairs with Clinton. She also instructed Leuwinsky kept the jacket which contaminated Clinton's sperm. Trip didn't get any advantage from it. From my point of view, it was obviously much more a purposed intelligent practice than the relationship of friends. An insistent eavesdropping and evidence searching. Mr. Hoover used to use this kind of material to extort.

37. What really makes me mad is that the judges refused to give the Clinton's
reimbursement for their legal fees and they are giving this goonhead over half a mil. If anyone thinks that the BFEE doesn't have a hand in this I've got some swampland I'd like to sell ya. She represents
just about everything I abhor disloyalty, avarice, backstabbing,
I could go on but I think everyone is aware of who she is and what she did. There is balance in life though and I believe that karma although it can be a slow moving entity eventually catches up with people who do others grievous wrongs.

39. From Lucianne's Mouth: Linda won't see the money
from her website

Not So Fast: Thanks to all who emailed their delight at the outcome of Linda Tripp's civil suit for invasion of privacy. We have not seen nor spoken to Linda for five years but we are reliably informed that she won't see that money. It will all go to her lawyers. This kind of gives new poignancy to the recent TV footage from outside that LA courthouse. Shooting a lawyer is a very bad thing to do but one can understand what drove the shooter when he shouted, "You took my money."
