Al-Jazeera admits Bin Laden error

A videotape claiming Osama Bin Laden is still "alive and fighting"
dates back to September, Arab television channel al-Jazeera has
admitted.

Al-Jazeera's editor-in-chief, Ahmed Sheikh, said his channel had
broadcast the footage by mistake.

Mr Sheikh said it had received the video in September and aired "the
important parts" at the time.

In the video, Bin Laden's deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, also claimed
al-Qaeda was behind the London bombings on 7 July.

Interestingly, the al-Zawahiri story is still up on al-Jazeera's web site.

Somehow I can't see the MSM in this country doing that unless they were caught out by another news organization. The other thing that gets me is the impression by many in the US, including Bush, that al Jazeera is in cahoots with terrorists. It is a news station, for heaven's sake! There may be times when their news appears to be slanted, but who is Bush to take umbrage when it is known he has paid people to plant favorable news stories here in the US?
