Senate Intelligence committee stalling pre-war intelligence report, aides
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 12:43 PM by stop the bleeding
  • 12/02/2005 Senate Intelligence committee stalling pre-war intelligence report, aides say - Larisa Alexandrovna - rawstory.com

The full Intelligence Committee met Nov. 9 for a briefing from staff, but according to Senate sources close to the Intel Committee, the task force is “unable to provide a timeline for Phase II completion.”

To date, there has been no Phase II report.

Senior Democratic Senate aides familiar with the task force’s activities say Republicans are stonewalling. One aide, who asked not to be named citing the secrecy of the investigation, explained that without the power of subpoena, Democrats are left with few options. “Phase II is dead,” the staffer said

Feith and the Office of Special Plans

Part of the delay is due to resistance from the Pentagon regarding its ultra-secretive Office of Special Plans (OSP). The group was set up by then Deputy Secretary of Defense, Paul Wolfowitz and Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Doug Feith. OSP was considered by many Defense Department officers and staff to be highly paranoid, secretive cabal of ideologues bent on creating a war with Iraq.

this whole article is pretty interesting aside from the Expected Stonewalling.

Time to do it. And again and again until this moves.

    7. Oversight is the legal responsibility of this committee
And Sen. Roberts is blocking them from carrying out their legal obligations. He'd better not be complicit in covering up crimes. If he is, I hope slow but inexorable justice catches up to him and every Republican congressman that has not only played politics with their duties but acted as accessories to crimes.

    8. The Dem's should not let this drop. That is what the Repubs want
to happen along with some of the media. There are even some democrats that aren't pushing for a review of the intelligence and should be. I want it known how we were lead into this war.I think it is important that we understand how this Administration did what it did so that it never happens again. Those responsible for this mess should be held accountable and pay for their dishonesty.

According to the Repubs, Phase II was nearly complete. We all knew that was BS, so lets shut it down again and get the truth out there.

    18. Phase 2 for the Democrats:
Turn this into a very specific and very public campaign issue for 2006.

They (Dems) would ALL need to be on the same page (like the budget vote, and the vote on the Phoney Republican Bill to "Withdraw Now"). The Republicans have handed the Democrats an issue that can be kept BOILING all the way through the 2006 campaigns if the Democrats show some gumption, unity, and organization.

This is an excellent broad based issue to bring to the American people.
This is "Why you should vote Against ALL Republicans".
This issue will work in EVERY Congressional District in the country.

The American People ARE capable of understanding this issue if the Democrats keep it SIMPLE and DIRECT (please don't let Kerry try to explain this), and speak in one voice.
