2. I'm sure it was the NRA's fault
After all, don't they have worldwide power and can control the minds of millions of voters through use of the dark side of the Force?

5. So given the fact that these kids and the thugs on the streets have
zero regard for the law when they shoot eachother up what exactly makes you think that a law banning guns would put a stop to their actions?

Before you get kneejerk like most of the "outlaw all guns" crowd does I am not saying guns = less crime. That is just as stupid as saying
guns = more crime.

All I am saying is that this whole "ban their tools" crap NEVER works. If people want to off others that badly they will find a way around it.

Remember when alchohol was banned once in this country? How great did that turn out?

I believe in restrictions and regulations, but I also believe at going to the root of the problem and that is not the guns that is the society that is the the thing that makes these people do this to one another be it poverty, desperation, or power THOSE are the items that should be addressed before blaming on something that is not a living entity.

Banning guns to solve the problem makes as much sense as saying we're going to address the threats on this nation by declaring a war on terror.

6. I really doubt that a sales ban
would of affected the Homeless Children Killing Squards. Gun bans have never affected the criminal element and they never will.

8. The U.S. would vote about the same on that ban if it were attempted.
Most states say that self-defense is an inalienable right, therefore it can not be given away even with a vote.

Firearms in general and handguns in particular are the most effective, efficient tool for a law-abiding citizen to use when exercising their inalienable right of self-defense.

9. Brazilians reject ban on gun sales
Brazilians reject ban on gun sales
Last Updated Sun, 23 Oct 2005 20:59:27 EDT
CBC News

Brazilians – whose country ranks second in the world in per capita gun deaths – appear to have voted solidly against a proposed ban on retail sales of guns and ammunition.

Election officials said that the partial results showed 64 per cent of voters opposed a gun ban that would have prohibited the sale of firearms and ammunition except to police, the military, some security guards, gun collectors and sports shooters.

Only a few weeks earlier, anti-gun advocates believed they could easily win when they proposed the referendum.

But opponents of the ban later appeared to win support after launching a media campaign, putting out the message that such a ban would rob law-abiding citizens of the right to defend themselves.
