US will be targeted in Iraq: Bush

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/iraq_blasts_us_bush

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The more success the United States sees on the ground in Iraq (news - web sites), the more it will be targeted for attacks, President George W. Bush (news - web sites) said after a string of deadly blasts in Baghdad.

"The more successful we are on the ground, the more these killers will react," Bush said.

Thanks, Skittles for putting it so succinctly. In other words, the more we succeed, the more we fail. So, it's not failure, it's success.

Brilliant, Georgie!

Please tell me he didn't say that.

IF so he is trying to use Iraq attacks to spin his cronie's healthcare plans?

WTF does he and his ilk know about good healthcare?

Oh this is unbelieveable tell me he didn't actually say that.

26. He did!
He was fielding questions from his usual pre-selected reporters, and as he found he was repeating himself, he started that stuttering nuance he has of searching for a new thing to say and blurted out that "Terrorists don't want good healthcare", followed by something else inane to sort of dilute the comment. It was embarrassing to watch so I flipped channels.

14. Sure.
Trot out some more Vietnam-vintage rationalisations. "We're WINNING Nthe war. But, see, the native population doesn't LIKE us winning the war, so the closer we get to ultimate victory, the more fiercely they will strike against us." Uh huh. Right. Now, I'm no military strategist, but it seems to me, from my reading of various strategists and tacticians from Tacitus and Sun Tzu to Clausewitz and T.E. Lawrence that ONE of the signs of success in a military operation is the gradual cessation of active opposition as the enemy comes to see the hopelessness of his position. This hasn't happened, and probably won't. The US is in the crucible, and the Iraqis are going to keep applying the flame.

16. Oh yeah sure name THOSE sources
Well put and Welcome to DU:hi: if'n I haven't before.

Time Magazine last month quoted several Iraqis who said that the opposition at that point were radicals and Saddam followers and they said that when Saddam is found then the everyday Iraqi will start their attacks as they can not been seen as supporting Saddam at that point. Perhaps the rank and file are no longer worried about Saddam and are starting their attacks now.

It's a big bag of cash and our efforts to keep the number of hands out of it have left us alone and now Iraqis are trying to oust us so they can have more of a share. This is very much like what happened in the former Soviet Union after it fell, everyone staking their claim.

No shit, this is like the propaganda the Japanese gov't used on its people as the Americans island-hopped toward the homeland. "The Americans are falling further and further into our trap. Everything is going according to plan. Soon they will be hopelessly overextended and we will destroy them."

34. Jesus Christ
this guy is totally lost--does he really believe this kind of rhetoric is going to be believed by anyone with a thinking brain? He is a pathetic, puny pipsqueak. Whoever told him he was in charge of anything probably regrets that now. Oh this is so embarrassing--Bush--how about you take your upholstered lump and yourself out of the White House now. You are not in charge of even deciding the brand of the toilet paper in the bathrooms, and you do not know what you are saying or doing--that is pretty obvious. You are babbling incoherently. Get out you idiot--and take the lump and her curtained dresses with you.

"Does the president really believe that suicide bombers are willing to strap explosives to their bodies because we're restoring electricity and creating jobs for Iraqis?" said Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites), D-Mass., a White House candidate. "Is the president arguing that the better things get in Iraq, the more dangerous it will become for American soldiers?"
