Iran to break U.N. seals on nuclear equipment

VIENNA, Austria - The United Nations’ nuclear watchdog was scrambling for solutions to the Iran crisis, as U.N. nuclear inspectors in Tehran on Wednesday installed the last surveillance cameras before Iran can resume full uranium conversion.

International Atomic Energy Agency board members were discussing how to persuade Iran to resume a voluntary suspension of uranium conversion and enrichment. They have the authority to report Iran to the U.N. Security Council, action that could trigger punitive sanctions, but there was no talk of that at an emergency meeting of the agency’s 35-nation board.

Iran has started to break the remaining UN seals placed on its nuclear plant at Isfahan, enabling it to operate fully. "The removal of seals has begun with the presence of International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors," Iranian official Mohammad Saeedi said.

The move comes as members of the UN's nuclear watchdog hold urgent private talks on Iran's decision to re-start uranium conversion activities. The IAEA wants to persuade Iran to resume a voluntary suspension. The organisation's spokeswoman, Melissa Fleming, confirmed the breaking of the seals. "Once the removal is completed we will confirm this to the board," she said.

Both Syria and Iran have a vested interest in making sure that our next move in Iraq is back home with our tail between our legs. The last thing they want is us encamped in a US friendly Iraq with our 14 permanent military bases as a rear support area for bringing freemon&moxy to the rest of the ME.

Maybe 20 years ago. But, didn't the two countries sign a treaty last month? Ultimately, I see Iraq being a client-state of Iran (after we finally pull-out).

If Chimpy had stressed nuclear disarmament, he could call on the UN to seek sanctions...but since he's ramped up America's atomic arms program and turned a blind eye to A. Q. Khan's nuclear sales, he's lost what moral high ground there was.

And since John Bolton's only talents are bullying and bluster, he's going to find it heavy weather explaining why Iran shouldn't have nuclear materials but the US (which invaded Iraq under false pretenses) should.

The UN is reported to be scrambling to find a diplomatic solution to the Iran issue.
No word on the US working on a diplomatic solution.
US continues to install imperialist neocons into strategic positions through recess appointments.

Hmmm, what could be next?

Umm, Iran decides the US should be the world leader and will defer?
Probably not.
Maybe, the UN Security Council finds some obscure rule that allows them to take some kind of action without the US?
Probably not.
Bill Clinton strides into the White House, oh wait, strides into the Pig Farm in Crawford and decks the Shrubster and takes charge?
Probably not.
Major terrorist attack on US soil?
I hope not.
The US tries to connect it's military forces in Iraq and Afghanistan?

several Iran stories a day in the news, an increase on "be afraid" and "how to protect yourself in case of a terror attack" stories.

Is this the run-up to attacking Iran with nukes like cheney wants and several people who keep up with these stories have warned us about?

Right now if they just went out and commited an atrocity like that I would be rather surprised. Not saying it couldn't happen, just that I think that they are more cautious and would want some counter-balancing atrocity to justify the nukage.
