Critics Blast Anthrax Vaccine Test (On children)
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 10:32 PM by seafan
June 23 2005

The National Institutes of Health is under fire from critics over a plan to test two anthrax vaccines on children.

The trial will test and compare the reactions in humans to the vaccine manufactured by BioPort Corp. of Lansing, Mich., and another being developed by NIH. Bob Bock, an NIH spokesman, said the trial planned for 100 children in first and second grade will not occur until the vaccines are fully tested on 350 adults and shown to be safe for them.

"The results in this study," says an NIH announcement, "will help in the development of improved vaccines for anthrax." The NIH and U.S. Health and Human Services Department are calling for development of the vaccine to protect civilians from terrorist or other attacks.

"I don't understand how they can do efficacy tests with children at the same time that we are discovering more and more U.S. soldiers who have been harmed by the vaccine," said Steve Robinson, executive director of the National Gulf War Resource Center for service members and veterans. "(NIH officials) want parents to want their children to be vaccinated against the anthrax terrorist attacks that have not happened."

5. just when I thought
that the neocons could sink to no lower lows they come out with this CRAP. I suggest that the children of the folks who thought this up should be first on the list. No I take that back, no children should be tested ... EVER. But maybe we could test some other drugs on the adults who thought this up. I recommend *******.

7. Nothing to worry about
BioPort faces lawsuit over vaccine

By Robert L. Jackson
Los Angeles Times

WASHINGTON - The sole U.S. producer of the anthrax vaccine, already facing trouble from government regulators, was hit Friday with a private multimillion dollar lawsuit alleging negligence in its manufacturing procedures.

The suit against BioPort Corp. of Lansing was filed in federal district court here and is believed to be the first action on behalf of soldiers allegedly harmed by vaccine shots they were required to take.

Company spokeswoman Kim Brennen Root said officials could not comment because they have not seen the complaint. Root acknowledged the company has had deficiencies noted by inspectors for the Food and Drug Administration, but she said the company expects a positive report on its procedures from federal regulators within the next six months.

8. The Carlyle Group owns Bioport
http://www.louisianaweekly.com/cgi-bin/weekly/news/articlegate.pl?20020826h

excerpt:

Ironically, though, while the press has covered the conflicting tale of the Crusader's re-authorization in some depth, it has all but ignored the Carlyle Group's greatest post Sept. 11 triumph, the rise in profits of its investments, BioPort.

BioPort Corporation is the only company in the United States with a license to make the Anthrax Vaccine. In actuality, BioPort does not actually make the vaccine; it acquired the lab that does, in 1998, Michigan Biologic Products Institute, from the State of Michigan.

Along with the actual Anthrax Vaccine, BioPort acquired Michigan Biologic Products Institute's sole and exclusive customer for the vaccine, the U.S. Department of Defense.

Yet, the great paradox of the situation comes when one learns that since acquiring Michigan Biologics, BioPort has barely delivered a drop of the stuff!

9. This reminds me of the smallpox vax push in 2002-2003.
When * was out there pushing his smallpox plan to vaccinate anyone and everyone, including troops, public health workers, first responders, hospital personnel.... then reports of serious post-vaccine reactions and adverse heart effects in previously healthy people started appearing in the newspapers around the country.

Didn't mean to digress, but whenever a potentially dangerous or lethal vaccination is pushed by politicians onto a population, in the face of a relatively low existing risk of outbreak of the disease, and without documented evidence of an actual disease outbreak, and without demonstrated safety of the vaccine, it is a good reason to refuse it.

And once again, in foisting this on a population by capitalizing on unwarranted fear, we see that the same cast of characters stand to benefit.

This article I kept from truthout from 2003:

Smallpox in America: Into the Garden of Delights
By Jennifer Van Bergen
t r u t h o u t | Report

Tuesday 14 January 2003

(Coleridge) said ... there were only three things which the government had brought into that garden of delights, namely itch, pox, and famine.
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson, English Traits(1856)

We are told that there is new grave threat to our welfare. Smallpox.

If we are indeed in danger of a smallpox outbreak (which is contradicted by medical testimony), the threat appears to be inflated.

A far more grave threat, however, is the Model State Emergency Health Powers Act (MSEHPA, MEHPA, or EHPA), portions of which were incorporated into the Homeland Security Act (HSA). The EHPA provides for forced vaccinations and confiscation or destruction of personal property under the mere threat of a threat of an outbreak.

Representative Ron Paul (R.-TX.), who also is a medical doctor, writes:
