China Backs Uzbek, Splitting With U.S. on Crackdown
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 24 - The government of China offered unequivocal support on Tuesday for President Islam A. Karimov of Uzbekistan, who is facing international criticism for the crackdown against a prison break and antigovernment rally in the northeastern city of Andijon earlier this month.
...
With essential facts about the violence still in dispute, China made clear that it would stand beside the authoritarian government of Mr. Karimov, who was to begin a three-day visit with Chinese leaders on Wednesday.

"We firmly support the crackdown on the three forces of separatism, terrorism and extremism by the Uzbekistan government," a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Kong Quan, said at a news conference in Beijing, according to news agency reports.

Mr. Kong's statement cemented a stark split between the West on the one hand, and Russia and China on the other, over the behavior of the Uzbek authorities, who have been accused of firing indiscriminately into antigovernment crowds on May 13, possibly killing hundreds. Several Western governments, NATO and the European Union have called for an independent investigation.

1. US supports Uzbek too...They just won't publicly say it....
The fascist dictator Karimov is one of Bush's biggest allies. He may publicly say that he supports an investigation, but behind the scenes, he is supporting his fellow fascist friend....

4. China says united with Uzbekistan against terrorism
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050526/wl_nm/china_uzbekistan_dc_1

BEIJING (Reuters) - China said on Thursday it was united with Uzbekistan in the fight against terrorism, weeks after clashes between Uzbek troops and protesters in the east of the Central Asian country.

China, worried about unrest in its own border regions and eager for new sources of energy to feed its booming economy, signed 14 agreements with visiting Uzbek President Islam Karimov on Wednesday. They included a deal for a $600 million oil joint venture and a treaty of friendship and cooperation.

"East Turkestan separatists have carried out a lot of terrorist incidents in China. The Uzbekistan side fully understands and supports the Chinese government's stance on this issue," Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan told a news briefing.

7. Bush also supports the dictator of Uzbekistan
Every year since 2001, Bush has increased $$$ support to the country for the war on terrorism.

Haven't you noticed Bush's silence on the violent crackdown?

But this is about East-Turkestan. Most people know about Tibet and the horrible things which have happened and are still happening there.

However those reports are about Central Tibet. Kham (East Tibet) has been hit even harder since they put up a fight and resisted against the occupation. Still some people know about that part.

And then there is East-Turkestan. It is one big gulag. We have no idea how horrible it has been there, but it maximum oppression, since they are Muslims. In general that place is described as an empty area, but it is not. Chinese will shiffer when they hear the name, because people send to East-Turkestan hardly ever returned.

CHINESE TORTURE IN EAST TURKESTAN

It has been shown in the preceding sections that the lands of East Turkestan have been Muslim for the last 1,000 years. Yet for more than half a century now, it has been living under occupation by the Chinese administration. A graffiti on a door at the University of Urumchi, described by Andrew Higgins (correspondent of The Independent) as "sheer racial venom" clearly reflects the Chinese view of the Uighur Turks:

Make Uyghur men our slaves forever and take Uyghur women as prostitutes for generations.25

China maintains up to 1 million soldiers under arms in the region, and controls everything that the Muslims in East Turkestan do. All vehicles are stopped at military checkpoints set up along the roads, the men are sometimes insulted and slapped about as their cars are searched, and Muslim women are abused. Chinese pressure is not restricted to stopping vehicles or frequent house searches by the military. The June 29, 2000 edition of the Japanese Mainichi Daily News described the oppression in the following terms:

Chinese control grows ever tighter and more intolerable. People's Liberation Army soldiers are everywhere. Travel and attendance at mosques are restricted. Communications are primitive and policed. Few farm villages have telephones, and urban phones are liable to be tapped. One can be jailed for years on mere suspicion of subversion.
