Jury: Oswald Sane During Infamous Crime Sprees

WAUKESHA, Wis. -- Late Tuesday afternoon, a jury, picked in Eau Claire, ruled that Ted Oswald did not have a mental disease or defect during his April 1994 crime spree that included the shooting death of a Waukesha police captain and the kidnapping of a woman at gunpoint.

Jurors had to decide whether Oswald was insane and driven to the acts by his abusive, controlling father, James.

In their decision, the jury rejected the defense's argument that Oswald was not mentally responsible for his actions and agreed with prosecutors who called him a calculated killer.
