Poll says Americans want Bush to end war in Iraq

Big News Network.com Thursday 28th April, 2005

The top piece of advice Americans would give President Bush is to pull out of the war in Iraq, a poll released Thursday indicated.

Nearly a quarter of respondents to a Gallup Poll said that if they had 15 minutes to talk to the president they would tell him to end the war in Iraq, making it the No. 1 response.

The second most popular response -- telling Bush to control the prices of fuel and oil and improve energy -- got 8 percent of respondents, while 6 percent said they would tell him to leave Social Security alone.

Praise tied for third -- 6 percent of respondents said they would tell Bush he was doing a good job.

Interesting!!!

4. Of course, there's zero chance
of them fighting us here because we are just about out of oil.

Why would anyone want to occupy the most heavily indebted country in the history of the world right when it's about to go into the international financial equivalent of Chapter 11?

3. What about our bases?
We're building the largest US military bases in the world right now in Iraq
14 new bases that dwarf the size of anything else on the planet.
pull out? I wish, not as long as these guys are not in jail.

6. "Permanent" bases are a violation of the War Powers Act
This bit of bait and switch would have required the Congress to actually 'declare war'. They have not. The Congress now acts on six month war appropriations in order to keep this 'perpetual war' going.

Someone needs to go over the wording of the 1973 War Powers Act and explain this to at least the Democratic members of Congress.

They can cut funding and force the return of US troops; the 'bases' can then be called a gift to the new Iraqi government ....

11. So I take it...
telling him to "go fuck yourself" wasn't an option. That would have been my option. Trying to convince him to do or not to do something is a waste of my time.
