Car bomb hits US military convoy in Baghdad
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2005-04/23/content_2868649.htm

BAGHDAD, April 23 (Xinhuanet) -- A suicide car bomb attack targeted a US military convoy near Baghdad airport on Saturday, killing a civilian and wounding 25 others, a witness said.

"A suicide bomber drove a vehicle into a US military convoy and blew himself up," Sami Hadad told Xinhua.

He said the attack took place in the al-Atebaa neighborhood near the main road leading to Baghdad International Airport, setting a US Hamvee and two civilian cars ablaze.

"A civilian was killed in the blast and 25 others wounded," he said, adding it is unclear whether there is any US casualty.

He said that US troops immediately cordoned off the scene.

The US military had no comment on the incident.

1. The insurgents seem to be...
increasing activity the past few weeks. Just when the Pentagon thought they had them on the run and that things were quieting down....BOOM! Once again, the military "misunderestimates" the insurgency.

2. This is because we are winning
and insurgents are desperate. Didn't you get the memo?

Actually this is all because this is what the Chimp wants. Bush has no interest in peace in the Middle East. Everything he does only creates more chaos and his daddy's friends stuff their pockets with more money. The more people that die has a result, the better.

3. That was pure BS from the pentagon
the attacks never slowed. They just chose to under report them.

4. If they underreported them, why did the recontinue?
I think the insurgents were just reorganizing. Attacks have been a little more complex lately.

5. I read somewhere last week
I wish I could remember where, that soldiers are told to not report attacks unless there are casualties. Surprise! The attacks suddenly go from 140 a day across Iraq down to 40. They are deliberately misleading us.

12. yeah, well with a little R & R,
backs have a way of recouping. Stay tuned, I think these insurgents have a little more courage and fortitude than freepers give them credit.

9. NO, NO, NO
This is once again proof that the insurgents are falling apart, on the run, in their final days, etc, etc. The same proof we have been getting for the last year, year and a half or so.

Come on, get with the program.

10. Now watch for casualties.
Notice the wording here: a suicide bomber targets a US military convoy. He sets a US Humvee ablaze.

Next: "A civilian was killed and 25 others wounded".

What about military? No word on US casualties.

**Expect the Pentagon to continue hiding the facts. As the US economy turns south, people will start getting really frustrated with "Bush's Excellent Adventure".

As the death toll spirals ever upward, Americans' patience is going to wear thin. I've read that after a certain number of deaths, people will start revolting and demanding a change, like they did towards the end of the VietNam involvement.

In VietNam, the final number was 55,000 US troops dead. I wonder what our threshold is this time?

BAGHDAD, Iraq The military says three U-S soldiers have been hurt in a car bomb explosion along a busy Baghdad road.

A U-S patrol had been the target of the attack that has left one Iraqi dead and a total of seven wounded.

The attack came on a road that connects with the highway leading to the city's airport.

Power lines have been knocked down and one military and two civilian vehicles have been destroyed by the explosion.

The attack is one of a series of explosions in Baghdad today.

Among them was a roadside bomb that exploded near an Iraqi army convoy on the outskirts of Baghdad, killing nine soldiers and wounded 20.
