http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L09707147.htmLUANDA, April 9 (Reuters) - The World Health Organisation (WHO) has halted a campaign in western Angola against an outbreak of Marburg virus after residents attacked its teams in apparent fear they could be spreading the deadly infection.
Angola's Marburg epidemic has claimed at least 183 lives from a total of 205 cases, according to the latest health department figures, making it the worst outbreak of the disease yet.
Team vehicles with 18 staff were attacked and damaged on Thursday in the Uige district in north-western Angola, which is at the epicentre of the outbreak, the WHO said on its Web site.
A WHO official said work had not resumed by early Saturday, which was the last time he had received information from Uige.
