World Bank may tighten security under Wolfowitz

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The appointment of Paul Wolfowitz to head the World Bank has prompted new concernsabout possible terrorist attacks on the institution, which has ordered a review of its security procedures, bank officialssay.
Wolfowitz, approved on Thursday as the bank's new president, was the main U.S. architect of the invasion of Iraq asdeputy U.S. defence secretary and a leading hawk in the administration of President George W. Bush, which is committedto a global war on terrorism.

"Directors raised with him their concerns of the possibility of an increased security risk he would bring to the bank," onesenior board official, who did not want to be identified, told Reuters. "He said he'd look into it."
The board official said the unease was that bank staff and operations, many in far-flung locations, could becomepossible targets because of Wolfowitz's role in the U.S. invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.
