Legal showdown looms in case of man who died after Taser was used to shock him

The case of a Vallejo man who died after police shocked him with a Taser stun gun inched closer to a possible legal showdown Thursday as city officials denied his mother's claim for potentially millions of dollars in compensation.
"In all probability, we will be filing a lawsuit promptly," said Scott Gilpin, the attorney for Lori Robinson, whose wrongful death claim filed last week against the city alleges that police killed her son by using excessive force. Gilpin said he'll decide whether to file suit in Superior Court after reviewing the full police report, which he said the city has blocked him from seeing. <snip>
Robinson's son, Andrew Washington, who would have turned 22 this Saturday, died Sept. 16, after police shocked him multiple times with a Taser. Police say Washington refused to stop running from officers after crashing a car he allegedly took from a friend without permission. <snip>
"Don't shoot the guy because he's running," Gilpin said in explaining the excessive force allegation. "Don't keep juicing him every time he appears to be moving." <snip>
