Crosby-Ironton Students Return, But Don't Stay (twin cities area)
Crosby, Minn. (WCCO) With their teachers still on strike, Crosby-Ironton students returned to class last week. Now they're already leaving in droves -- and they're blaming their replacement teachers.

Crosby-Ironton teachers went on strike Feb. 9, and their union is suing the district for bringing in replacement instructors. As it turns out, many students aren't happy about the replacements either.

"It's just basically a daycare," one student said. <snip>

3. Union delegates donate $10,000 to strikers
C-I STRIKE
By MATT ERICKSON
Staff Writer

Delegates at the Education Minnesota Representative Convention this past weekend donated $10,000 to the striking Crosby-Ironton teachers.

A total of 527 delegates attended the convention Friday and Saturday in St. Paul, according to a news release from Education Minnesota. The $10,000 donation also was from members of Education Minnesota Retired.

The delegates also authorized Education Minnesota to "use all appropriate fiscal and human resources" to support Education Minnesota Crosby-Ironton Local 1325 teachers' union in its efforts to achieve a reasonable settlement. <snip>

4. The Range...not the Twin Cities Area
Crosby Ironton is real old-time union country. Hockey and hard work.

6. apology accepted
Now you've got me thinking about The Range.
Major DFL (MN version of Democratic Party) bastion.
When iron mining was in its' heyday these areas were flush, fantastic high schools and public buildings.
