DeLay's ARMPAC linked to Texas group
AUSTIN - U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's federal leadership political fund apparently coordinated with a Texas committee to deliver $23,000 in contributions to Texas House candidates, according to documents filed in a civil lawsuit.

The documents draw DeLay's Americans for a Republican Majority deeper into the ongoing controversy over whether Texans for a Republican Majority illegally used corporate money to help finance the GOP takeover of the Texas House in 2002. Republicans contend the money was spent legally.

DeLay, R-Sugar Land, and his aides have maintained that TRMPAC had nothing to do with his leadership political committee, ARMPAC, though some of his associates worked for both. But the new documents show a working relationship between the groups.
...
The documents also raise questions about whether ARMPAC used corporate funds to raise the money delivered to the Texas candidates. Such use of corporate money for candidates has been at the core of civil lawsuits and criminal investigations into TRMPAC.

1. This is one scandal that is not going away, it seems
Maybe, just maybe Delay WILL go down in flames! He is so revolting I, for one, will celebrate merrily if he does.

2. Once things actually end up in court no telling what will develop

That is how they finally got something,(no matter how tiny or private) on Clinton. Each side can demand full disclosure and subpoena anyone to testify. This is one reason Republicans truly hate lawyers. They fear them mightily. Lawyers can dig into their deepest secrets and believe me Republicans have Secrets.....

3. Webpage: 10 reasons why Tom DeLay should resign from Congress
LONG list...gives examples for each thing listed:

http://www.pcactionfund.org/withoutdelay/facts/

-violates ethics rules at will – he has received four ethics violations -- and is a national embarrassment.

-embodies the worst of pay-to-play politics – puts big donors like Enron ahead of the rest of us.

-abuses his position as House Majority Leader to trample on the legislative process.

-accepted travel expenses from a registered foreign agent, in apparent violation of House rules.

-used illegal corporate contributions to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of Texas voters with his anti-democratic re-districting scheme.

-uses tax dollars and government resources for partisan political gain.

-opposes any reasonable campaign finance laws, even disclosure of donations.

-shakes down small business owners for campaign contributions.

-received all expenses-paid junket from a lobbyist accused of bilking tens of millions of dollars from six Native American tribes.

-believes he is above the law.

4. LAT: With DeLay in the Spotlight, Republicans Feeling the Heat
snip>
"We all wish there were not news stories about Tom DeLay, but there are," said Rep. Zach Wamp (R-Tenn.). "He is a tough character. Like him or not, everyone needs to recognize how tough and durable he is. I wouldn't bet against him. But there's no question that it's something we all wish would go away, and over time, it probably will."

DeLay is trying to keep to a business-as-usual schedule, insisting that the news stories and investigations are not diverting his focus.
But on Tuesday, he kept a room full of party faithful attending a conference on tax reform waiting nearly an hour so he could vote against an ethics measure put forward by the House Democratic leadership.
...
But Shays added that he and some others would counsel DeLay to not "go so close to the edge" in his political maneuvering and to work harder not to "give your enemies a reason to complain."

And several GOP pollsters, consultants, leadership aides and others said that despite the goodwill DeLay had built within his party — and the fear he had instilled in those who had crossed him and found themselves removed from positions of power — the majority leader needed to change the subject, and soon.
