Plot foiled to kill Honduras president
http://www.swissinfo.org/sen/swissinfo.html?siteSect=143&sid=5455473

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (Reuters) - Honduran police have captured a grenade-carrying Nicaraguan they say was hired by drug traffickers
to assassinate the country's president, officials say.

Border police arrested 40-year-old Jose Leonidad late on Friday in the Pavana region near the Nicaraguan border after he sneaked into the
country illegally, senior police official Leonel Sauceda told Reuters on Saturday.

"We captured a Nicaraguan who came to assassinate the president (Ricardo Maduro) and who was hired by organized crime linked to drug
traffickers," Sauceda said, adding that the arrested man had not confessed.

"In two suitcases under several pieces of wooden art the man had an M40 grenade launcher, 20 grenades and a Galil rifle that he would have
used in the attempt on the president's life," Sauceda said.

5. He's comfy in his wee bungalow in west Miami Dade. Sweet, isn't it?
Thanks to his administrative pardon from George H. W. Bush, he's safely at home, out of the reach of friends and relatives of the murdered passengers of the Cubana airliner he and Luis Posada Carriles planned and executed in October, 1976. The victems included were the entire official Cuban fencing team, and students from Guyana. Orlando Bosch's opinion of the event:
"There were no innocents on that plane."

Present and previous mass murderer Bosch.

2. this seemingly small-league individual could be a patsy for
now-familiar names in the White House, the Iran-Contra mafioso scum and their spinoff ilk still parasitizing the globe (but especially Latin America) with assassinations, drugs and racketeering in ways invisible to us ordinary law-abiding hicks. Who knows what plots they have brewing in Honduras, keeping the place safe for agribusiness, enforcing readily available choice land for plantations, a compliant and subservient labor force and guaranteed markets for the foreign owned crops--

8. President Ricardo Maduro is a WH tool. BushCo WANTS Maduro
alive and well. Maduro has signed over so many Honduras assets in the latest CAFTA agreement.

Whomever is behind this assignation attempt (if it truely is one), it isn't BushCo.

6. Is there a connection to his decision to withdraw Honduran troops?
We know by now, after Operation Condor, ANYONE who displeases right-wing leadership can become a target.
Honduras to Withdraw Troops from Iraq
Middle East Online
April 20, 2004

President Ricardo Maduro announced late Monday that the 368 Honduran troops in Iraq would be withdrawn as soon as possible, saying they have accomplished the mission assigned them by the United Nations. "Today I have spoken with the members of the coalition and other friendly countries, and have decided to withdraw the Honduran troops in Iraq," Maduro said.

"I have ordered the secretary of state... to carry out the decision as quickly as possible and in a way that will ensure the safety of our troops," Maduro said in a speech broadcast nationally. The withdrawal of Honduran troops from Iraq comes two days after Spain said it would withdraw its troops from Iraq immediately, drawing reproach from US President George W. Bush as he tries to hold the international coalition together in the face of mounting guerrilla attacks.
