NYC man sentenced for cheating immigrants

NEW YORK, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- A New York City man who once worked for the Immigration and Naturalization Service was convicted of collecting $1 million to help people immigrate.

Forty-five-year-old Tin Yat Chin was convicted of collecting $30,000 from each would-be Chinese immigrant -- often a family's entire life's savings -- and promising he could help them immigrate and expedite the issuance of a green card
