Leading Indicators Down for 5th Month
<http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/breaking/breakingnewsarticle.asp?feed=OBR&Date=20041118&ID=4103978>

This is very serious. 3 times okay...4 times well...5 times start looking for cover. Six times usually means start looking for the next recession.

1. We're in for a very rough time, folks
We've got record debt, inflation, massive job loss, and a government that is hostile to the interests of its people.

12. We stopped turning the corner months ago when we found out...
that we ended up right were we started...

what I don't get are what these guys in the article are saying:

"A fifth straight decline in the leading indicators is a clear signal that the economy is losing steam, and may start off 2005 with a relatively weak pace of economic activity,'' Conference Board economist Ken Goldstein said in a statement."

Then...

"It's not yet a signal that we've got real trouble in the economy,'' said Gary Thayer, chief economist with A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. in St. Louis. ``It's signaling more moderate growth in the months ahead, but not necessarily a recession."

More newspeak???

14. I'm not buying...

...either. Watch for a new speech telling us to "spend our way out of economic ruin" in an attempt to get a one month boost in sales so the "sixth month" doesn't hit for another "six months".

this is an administration that told us to "go shopping" in response to a bombing in New York. :grr:

10. Assuming the elections are clean
WE SHOULD (and we did)win, but them pesky electronic machines took it away

Now you are right, and it could be worst than '32... how much worst? Boy my imagination is running wild on that one... given the editorials that have recently been apearing, not the Chenney the South blogs, but actually editorials, like those seen in the Virginian way back then (after Abe Lincoln was elected)
