recount because we are already too divided, I lost it. I'm in tears as I type right now.

a rotten candidate anyway. I don't know why we nominated a horse face like him.

And I can proudly state that I'm pro-choice, no matter what another DU poster said. I continue to stand up for my principles, despite the election results.

But tomorrow is another day. And tomorrow. And tomorrow,

39. Tomorrow is another day?
Well, maybe.

But the Bushistas, a Dubya SCOTUS, and the religious rightwing will do their level best to make sure that for us it won't be -- or for that matter, that for humankind it won't be.

This was no ordinary election. Think of what it was like being a Jew in Germany in the 1930s.

Been that way since the invasion and colonization started. It had abated somewhat as I was beginning to believe there was hope, but that shame is back in full force today!

careful of the freepers, this is good ammo for them.

But what's the point?
It's over. We had our chance. We blew it. I blew it. I had more time to volunteer and I didn't. Surely if I had spent as much time volunterering as I had at DU, it might have had an affect?

11. Tell me about it. My daughter just called me from her college here in FL.
She is 18 and it is her first election. She was really excited about Kerry and volunteered her time as a poll watcher. She was crushed. She kept saying, "what's wrong with these people in Florida". I told her to take a day or two to wallow and then get back up and fight on. We can't let Chimpy run roughshod over us.

<<She was crushed. She kept saying, "what's wrong with these people in Florida">>

Tell her that once AGAIN the will of the people in Florida was never heard in a Presidential election. This election smells FISHY. Big time smell of ROTTEN fish.

All those minority first-time FL voters standing in line for six hours over the last few days weren't voting for * Same in OH.

Tell her to fight Black Box voting. Tell her to fight for clean political campaigns. And tell her, whatever she does not to drink the kool aid and say, "ok, * won fair and square so let's all just see the conservative light and get on with life."

Tell her to work to get Jeb Bush and his henchmen and henchwomen out of office in FL. How the heck long are those people keeping him as governor? Or is the fix in on him as well??

I've lived overseas and traveled a lot when I was active duty and I'm still grateful to be an American - hopefully we can eventually see some positive change in terms of 3rd party politics - IMO that's the only way to avert the almost certain 2-party bigger govt spending fueled economic collapse that's coming.....

I can be ashamed of my government. I can be ashamed of its agents. But as long as I have a voice, I will continue to share the belief that this country is something to cherish and be proud. Most importantly, it something worth defending, even from 'itself.'

There is no hope for America.

There's always hope. It's a loss. One loss. Only a wussy loser says that there's no hope. A winner gets up and figures out how to win next time.

28. I'm ashamed that THOSE CRIMINALS are American.
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 01:06 PM by ThomCat
They bought the vote from Diebold and friends and got away with it.

They convinced a whole lot of idiots that the image of being "a good man" is more important that what someone really does.

They have reaffirmed, yet again, that trashing someone constantly through surrogates makes for effective politics.

I'm ashamed that THEY are Americans. And I'm ashamed that the people who fell for it are Americans.

29. What do I tell my children?
They called me individually last night not just in tears but sobbing their hearts out. I am old enough to remember bad times in America like Kent State and the Vietnam War. They feel betrayed. I have no words to console or answers to give them when they ask "How did this happen?" As a parent I am at a loss.

36. That's strange
2 families from my local Mommy/Daddy's Support group are thinking the same thing. One of them already has connections for a job in Cambodia, so it's not just frustration talk.

I want to leave too, but if I do, I know I will eventually be fighting the US where ever I go if I don't do it here and now.
