What to do now? First: Stop Buying Shit You Don't Need!!!
Stop feeding any money to the lousy bush economy unless it's absolutely necessary for your survival. Boycott the motherfuckers into economic stasis. Consumer spending is all that's propping up the * economy. Remove that lynchpin and it all collapses.

I am going to be spending nothing on Xmas. Sorry, kids, but you're going to have to be happy with less crap than normal.

Besides, you're going to need the money when gas hits $5 per gallon.

I buy precious metals for my jewelry making anyway, so I have no issue with that.

2. I am not buying any more computer supplies or parts.
for myself at least. I am only going to spend on food, gas, books, and model railroad stuff.

I plan on diving into my hobby for the next 4 years and reading a lot.

25. well, buddy maybe that's the ONLY way some folks will learn!!!!
hit them in their pocketbook. Democrats have been far too long not taken resistance seriously because we didn't want to "upset anybody".
Well fuck that! I'm boycotting. I'm not spending anything more than I have to. I'm not buying processed foods and I'm getting back o basics.

7. This is the only thing that is starting to shake me out of my despair for
the country and world. Bush is going to have to deal with all the messes he has made in the US and around the world. While we will suffer for it, at least he will get the blame instead of having someone else come in to clean up his mess. I grasping for something and this is all I can find.

Can he bring the country together? NEVER! and he won't even try.

22. I know but we can't do anything about it now can we?
I want Kerry and the Dem's to hold Bush's feet to the fire for all of his screw ups.

What else can we do? I'd like the investigator in Kerry to get to dig into some of the Bush scandals. Are they investigating any BushCo scandals in Kerry's committees?

Get Terry out, put Dean in and fight like hell! No accommodation like in 2002.

8. I've been there for a while.
But I'm on disability (until * takes it away), so I don't have much choice.

Still...it can be done. Remember libraries for your books...freeware...and one of the things I like about us lefties is that we're willing to share what we have and what we know.

10. Works for me
I just finally got another programming job after being unemployed for the better part of a year so now I do have a steadier income. I'm going to drive my 94 Nissan Sentra until it falls apart, and I've been able to keep my Christmas shopping to right around $10-$12 per person with just 18 people on my list. Plus the gifts I've bought were from individuals off of Ebay, and the most expensive one is coming from the Orient.

I'm an entertainer - magician and balloon twister on the side - and I'm getting rid of my "lower rates" for churches deal.

12. Excellent idea- anyway, you need to save for the bad times-
no social security in your retirement, endless deficits, probably more wars, high "security" costs passed on to us.

I'm with you. I've been spending too much anyway.

And as for my "unemployed neighbors"- they all voted for Bush for his so-called "moral values". Let them eat that.

11. Much better to save for our retirements...
Use the library and public parks - your taxes support them.
Teach your kids to look at commercials skeptically, buy no-name stuff & save the advertising expense, take up hobbies like hiking that cost very little. There's an economic storm coming, and we little people should be taking care of our futures first. Don't count on social security. I only hope that money we have saved in American banks will be there when we need it.
Boy, do I sound like an old-timer or what?

Won't need to do that
The corporations have been sitting on the side lines waiting to see which way the wind blows. They are ready to ship every job overseas they can right now. Our economy is dead. We will all be working at Malwarts in a matter of months. I just got laid off from a 10 year job the day before election day. They did this to cover the massive layoff with the election. And this is just the start.

No need to boycot. You're not going to have anything to spend.

16. Or...
What about supporting smaller companies instead of the big corporations? I'm not going to drive my friends and family out of business by not spending money but I will support those businesses that support causes I believe in. What about shopping at Costco? They pay a living wage and support Dems.

19. This election was a win for the current corporate business model
And that means we became vassels. We work at the corporations say so now. We get paid what they will determine is fair and equitible. This is going to send economic chaos into the world. Not just the US. They are going to be begin leapfrogging from nation to nation driving up the labor costs and then leaving when they get too high. They will leave a wake of collapsed economies in their path. They come in offering jobs and wages and leave when they find a new patsie nation.

18. Why hasn't the DNC or another organization begun a referral list for
companies who support Dems? Think about it, if there was an organization which vet companies and perhaps listed them on a Website which we could subscribe to for a small fee to make sure they were not being boycotted by Repukes, we could easily patronize only companies who support dem causes and candidates. I'd like to know when I order propane gas or hire someone to plow my drive, that they support dems.

Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 01:49 PM by Hardball
Impressive gains were made in the red states. Some very important states had the repubs worried. That tells me there are still people around willing to listen to reason. We did not get stomped. All it means is that a majority of only 1 in 25 people agreed more with BushCo than with Kerry. More likely than not ignorance rather than informed decision led to their Bush votes.

If you want to fight the "corporate culture" fascist tendencies, start off by targeting the news media who are the lapdogs of the politicians who are the lapdogs of big campaign donors.

They want every kid to recite "... with liberty and justice for all." Time to hold their feet to the fire on the "Justice" part.
