Hillary: MI is not going to count for ANYTHING.
NHPR's Laura Knoy: "So, if you value the DNC calendar, why not just pull out of Michigan? Why not just say, Hey Michigan, I'm off the ballot?"

Hillary Clinton: "Well, you know, It's clear, this election they're having is not going to count for anything"

ignoring this thread. They don't know how to spin the apparent contradiction from Hillary. They can't just admit that she is wrong or was wrong.

But add, that in support of the voters, I do support them having a caucus in order to reinstate their delegates.

I think they SHOULD definetly revote...as long as they give both candidates a chance to campaign there.

54. Sorry, that was a long interview, and I have just now finished.
She was mesmerizing, and, as usual, the entire portion dealing with MI was not quoted. Out of context means you do not get what was said before or after a quote. I encourage all of you to go and listen to the interview.

I will not quote all of it here. Suffice it to say, Hillary was very mindful of Michigan's position in this. Because she did not want them to have no one on the ticket, she left her name on, even though she did not think they would have their delegates seated. Yes, she did say that; however, her position was made very clear. It was every candidate's personal choice to take their name off or leave it on.

She felt that Michigan voters would be stripped of their rights if they had no one to vote for, and that democrats would pay for this in the November election, no matter who was the nominee. I don't know why other people left their names on the ballot, or if MI was the one where it was only Hill, but the dems in battered MI got to vote, and, it was not meaningless. I'm sure MI will remember Hillary and dems in general fondly because of this decision by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Really, people, Obama hasn't enough glitter to go around if you waste it sprinkling it over shit. It was a great interview in New Hampshire and was probably one of the reasons she won. Her position is clear. Go listen to all of it.

I would personally like to thank the OP. I had never heard this interview. It was brilliant and I loved hearing all over again why she is the best candidate in this race.

60. As the most well known candidate, she had an advantage there
without having to campaign.

her opponents would have had to campaign there to compete with her, but party rules prevented them from doing so.

she did agree that it wouldn't count and she didn't run there in order to get those delegates by her own words.

8. So she helped suppress the vote by saying the election wouldn't count
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 12:53 PM by killbotfactory
Left her name on the ballot so that she was the only choice of the top three, and then claim victory and try to make the election count. That's pretty cool. Go Hillary!

20. Because it distorts a position? They won't count. Clinton only called for seating them.
She would do it, Obama would do it (if it wouldn't hurt him), and now that I think about it, the superdelegates can do it if Obama wants to disenfranchise them.

It's cute. :)

21. There is absolutely NO good reason not to have a revote
They broke the rules so the original vote doesn't count - that is the penalty you see for breaking the rules. Now they can have a revote and no harm is done. There is no logical argument against this. NONE! Let them both campaign, let the voters vote, and live with the results whatever they may be.

The rules were agreed to before the primary started.

No do overs.

What don't you people understand about that? Sheeesh

Arguments against having a revote?

I was an Edwards guy, went over to Obama. I'm alarmed by how nasty HRC supporters are on other threads. I mean nastiness that I've never seen. Ultra defensive, ultra pejorative approach in responding. I just want HRC to go away, sooner rather than later so that things return to more civil around here.

44. The votes in Michigan and Florida cannot be used. There have to be new contests.
Caucuses, because primaries would require State action.

It's either caucuses to be held, or no voting delegates from Florida and Michigan. Their choice.
