Gannon connected to WH forging TANG documents?
If this is true, SHIT IS GOING TO HIT THE FUCKING FAN.

We can't wait 4 years for a Republican to win by lying again.

2. Even if true, so what?

How many times have DUers posted: "The shit is going to hit the fan!"???

We are dealing with people with no values or accountablility.

For God's sake: Negroponte, a man who sees nothing wrong with killing whole families, is now the "intelligence czar." That's like having Mengele as the Surgeon General.

Besides, this is a bit tinfoil-hatish for my tastes.

We'll see where it goes.

3. It does seem that way

1. Create phony documents that make Bush look bad, or at least support long standing suspicious about his NG service.
2. Then let's "leak" them to CBS.
3. Let CBS run the story.
4. Then "catch" CBS running a story with phone documents.

But maybe in the evil mind of Rove this is a way to run a campaign!

4. The longer they stay in power
the more I don't understand how they stay in power.

Short of Bush walking nude up Pennsylvania Avenue with a shotgun, blowing tourists away, it just seems that there is nothing this Administration can do that would shock Americans out of complacency.

5. Hmmm Let's see...
Press Conference the next day...

Q: Exactly why did the President take out a shotgun and blow away some tourists yesterday?

WH Press Spokesman: The President, in a bold and decisive move, killed some tourists because someday they produce children that could grow up to be terrorists. The President is now resting as this was "hard work". Next question? Mr Gannon, go ahead...

8. As awful as that image is, I'm sure the
WH would find a way to put a positive spin on it. Something like, "While he was in the shower an urgent call came in from the FBI that there was credible intelligence that terrorists masquerading as tourists were spotted on Pennsylvania Avenue. Without regard for his own safety, the President immediately grabbed the nearest firearm from a startled SS agent, ran naked into the street, and singlehandedly mowed down the evildoers. God bless this wonderful Christian man."

17. He did it before
with the cocaine story -- leak it to one you can discredit and it goes away -- why not do it again? The CM falls for it every time -- this time they took the bait by focusing on Rather when the docs did nothing but make weight for the interviews he had. For fairly intelligent people, CM journalists are dumb!!!

people on DU even theorized that exact scenario you just laid out.

25. I remember that the TANG secretary said
the information in the documents were true but the documents were false. Knowing that she could be called on to verify the contents,
Karl had to scan the documents and alter the font and spacing, Is this
feasible? Plausible?

10. Tinfoilish? There isn't even a whiff of tinfoil in that scenario. GOP
operatives play filthy and plant evidence... they are also hypocritical when it comes to "deviant" sexual behavior.

They also use people as patsies.

The info about Buckhead/Stone etc. in Florida is true.

11. If This Is So, I Hope It Comes Out Sooner
If Gannon was the guy responsible for feeding the forgeries to CBS, I hope that the news gets out one hell of a lot sooner than four years from now. I hope it's scooped by someone, someone with cojones, skill, and computer.

I already detest this administration and have since 2001. I am coming to have a mountain of contempt for the corporate media as well.

Just imagine, for example, if this notion turns out to be true and is brought to the attention of the American public by bloggers and the foreign press. Just imagine what else would go splat on the faces of the media whores.

14.  CRC and Cybercast News Service (CNS)
were behind the forgery/typewriter story. Turns out the L. Brent Bozell III is President of both CNS and Media Research Center.

Two DC firms ramp up efforts over latest presidential controversies

A CRC client, the Cybercast News Service (CNS), was among the first to voice suspicion that documents suggesting Bush had received preferential treatment in the Guard were forgeries.

"After the CBS story aired, called typographical experts, got them on the record that these papers were fishy, and posted a story by 3pm Thursday," said CRC SVP Keith Appell. "We were immediately in contact with Drudge, who loved the story."

CRC worked with CNS and the Media Research Center, another media watchdog client, to push the story into the mainstream press.

"We've been communicating with bloggers and news websites to make sure they know it isn't just Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge who are raising questions," added CRC president Greg Mueller.

15. If this was a Hollywood script you submitted, you'd be committed...
..to an asylum.

OK. Here's the elevator pitch:

A former soldier (who may not be) becomes a male hooker for Marines and decides to make some gay porn web sites and sell his body online as well as submit photos to other gay porn sites. Then he gets some connection from a guy like Drudge (who he has fucked) to get the chance to be a White House reporter where he will have full access and be able to ask questions that Sean Hannity emails him as well as other Repugs in the White House.

The ending...you just wait and see. Basically, the whole shithouse goes down in flames.

21. I had this premonition this morning.
I told my sister-in-law on the phone, after reading her a story on Gannon to get her up to speed (she didn't know anything about it), I said, "I don't know why, but I have a feeling this guy has something to do with the fake Bush National Guard documents that Dan Rather did the story on and ended up resigning over."

The last premonition I had was about having to do jury duty. The summons came in the mail the next day.

(Insert Twilight Zone music here.)

The TANG documents story taught us how they kill a story by planting disinfo.
Caveat emptor. Especially in using sources like raw.

28. What this angle needs is "boots on the ground"...
There is only so much bloggers can do from a keyboard. By boots on the ground I mean private detectives, retired cops, people with connections. The investigations that law enforcement can do when investigating a crime are what it would take to shake loose definitive evidence. That means lugs (phone records for those who do not watch Law & Order) bank records, but most important of all interviewing of witnesses.

I also think the Gannon story could use boots on the ground in Delaware & DC, and gays interviewing other gays would be optimal.
