1. Man, a 5-point drop in 7 days.
President George W. Bush's approval rating for his handling of the situation in Iraq has fallen below 50 percent, to 46 percent, for the first time in a Newsweek poll.

The poll, released Saturday, found the US president's approval rating on Iraq had declined a full five percentage points compared with a September 11-12 poll.

But a lot of shit went down this past week.

The chimp is in free-fall.

2. Step change down for the pig Rove the moron. Big change in 3 weeks
I just got back from a three week trip "out west" to Yellowstone along some of the Oregon Trail and came back to catch up on the news. I have newspapers held and after reading them all plus some magazines, I'm more convinced that the pig Rove and the moron are worse off than when I left. When Charley Reese (retired from the Orlando Sentinel) hammers Bush and speaks favorably of Dean and Clark announces that he is running and with Fox "News" becoming more desperate (playing tapes of Bush' speeches), there has been a step change down for the pig Rove and the rest of the rPIGs. On to the primaries. Lets go. We can beat the pigs out of office.

3. current Dem leader is Clark?
From your article:

"The current leader of the Democratic presidential challengers is retired US Army general Wesley Clark -- who announced his candidacy Wednesday and collected 14 percent of the vote among registered Democrats in the poll."

Do you have a link to the poll?

4. 38 percent on the economy. Ouch!
But WHOTHEHELL insists on continuing to give him 66 percent approval on his handling of the fight against terrorism? The First Dog Dropper has only made our country, and in fact, the entire world, much more vulnerable to terrorism! GEEZ! In fact, it completely escapes me how anybody could give him high marks for anything - except for being a MISERABLE FAILURE!!!

11. Bush will not even run at this rate zidzi
The Repugs have written off the White House next year. The are only concerned about his coat tails dragging the rest of the party down next year. They will replace him on the ticket.

12. Ya think?
It does look to me like he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell. I am beginning to wonder how many other assholes are going to be riding his coattails out of town. *That* would be a tremendous victory.

13. What do you
base this on? I am curious, not bashing. I hate to say this but I could be happy with a regular, well meaning Republican who is not out to take over the world. Now of course, I will never vote for one, ever ever ever, not after this. I am curious.

15. How many Repugs have been out lately defending Bush?
Even after Kennedy's accusations? And not one has said Ted was wrong either. I can count them on one hand. A couple have just been out throwing a lot of mud. Does that tell you anything? Never thought you were bashing either. You asked a darn good question. Hope my answer is a good one?

17. True but
do you really think they will run another? It could make things really easy for us or really tricky. I would think that it would wake a bunch of sleepers up to see no confidence in their main guy that they have been excsuing all these years. Hmmmm

18. Word came down before the last Bush speech
Junior, this is make it or break it time he was told. And when he said $87 billion dollars he was even losing freepers. That was his "I am not a crook" speech. And it bombed. People heard all they needed to hear that night. It was the last nail in the coffin.

19. I will take this
thought and put it in my pocket and take it out and mess with it now and then and see what I come up with. I agree, he has bombed from day one and it is becoming apparent to more than just us here at DU. I wondered how long it would take for the ship to start leaking. Fortunately for them they really do not have to say too much, they have Hannity etc. to do a lot of that talking for them. It will be interesting to see how many of these guys are into the PNAC group. There could be massive bleeding in that party. Could be fun to watch.

20. "the powers above" asking Bush not to run?
Where did I see something on this? Someone was saying that Bush would be asked not to run in 2004 by the "powers above". Anyone have a link? I want to look into this some more...

10. I Think Dimbo's Ratings Are Higher On Newsweek Polls
It seems to me that his numbers are consistently lower on all the other polls.

Either way, there dropping like a rock. Can't get low enough for me!

14. The latest Zogby poll
has Bush at 45% approval and 54% disapproval...

"A majority (52%) said it’s time for someone new in the White House, while just two in five (40%) said the president deserves to be re-elected. Last month, 45% said re-election was in order, and 48% said it was time for someone new.

A like number (52%) said the country is heading in the wrong direction, while 40% said it is the right direction.

Overall opinion of President Bush has also slipped to 54% favorable – 45% unfavorable, compared to August polling which indicated 58% favorable, 40% unfavorable.

Just two in five (40%) said they would choose Bush if the election were held today, while 47% said they would elect a Democratic candidate. In August polling, respondents were split (43% each) over President Bush or any Democratic challenger."

I don't even think it's even that high.

Just talk to people on the street, and at work.

You'll find out the "real poll".
It's not even that high.

16. Lessons from history
Seems to me that everything started unravelling for Tricky Dick about two years after Watergate. Seems that it takes about that long for the truth to trickle down to the people. Well, it's been two years and counting for Shrub. I'll be generous and say I don't hope history repeats itself and he resigns. I want him to lose the next election so bad that both the House and Senate have Democratic majorities!

21. Two-pronged strategy for GOP.
#1. Run "God-Gays-Guns-Gooks" (sorry, Ay-rabs) 24/7 but below the radar, where the national media can't see it -- local papers, weeklies, local AM radio, pulpits, etc.

#2. Massive turnout suppression. People don't like negative campaigning -- go negative. People are less likely to vote if there's no perceived difference between candidates, so lots of copycatting. People are less likely to vote if it is difficult, so lots of 'ballot integrity' activity.

Keep it close enough to steal, and Bob's your uncle.

22. One chick, two chicks.....I am afraid that this will make them more
desperate. Nothing like a cornered republican. It is a long way till election. Counting chickens before they hatch, or before Rove puts out the call to his evil minions.

I will not be comfortable until the week of the election, and the Fox network says it's the fat lady singing for Chimpy.
