As for your post, I agree that it is important for us as good liberals to care about the suffering of others regardless of their actions that may have initiated the suffering.

That being said, I will have a very hard time feeling empathy toward a Bush supporter who loses their job to an overseas firm. I can offer my condolences sincerely, but empathy and compassion are going to be hard to muster.

Kids getting killed in Iraq is another issue altogether. Death is never deserved.
