sending that to you. Don't want to mess up your computer. After I sent that to you I looked and there are no oyster items listed. Maybe its a refrigeration thing. Damn near everything else though.

What another sad day for America. Now us taxpayers will be paying rove full time to make swift boat attack plans against the good guys. I do not see how the gop will not be put into permanent minority status for decades to come after the years 2000-2008.

Have hope BOSS! We will retake the congress in 2006! We have to think positively and work like hell to throw the bastards out. I think we need more people like Murtha, Clark and the retired Generals to speak out regarding the truth about DimSon and the war.

The wife and I will spend the day in the quarter on Friday. I think GW Fins is a Brennan Restaurant. The only problem; too much godawful incredibly good food to eat all in a very small place. Ya just can't eat it all. There is nothing being served that I wouldn't eat or enjoy.

14. See you people just point out the bad news. The good news is....
in the place of the crater that is a result of this blast, a football stadium will be constucted.

The librul press probably won't point that out.

Probably few in the embassy? Maybe it's Afghanistan's way of letting Bush know that he's not the only one that can make things go "boom."

A large explosion near the HQ of NATO's peacekeeping mission rocks the Afghan capital, a NATO spokesman said.
A large explosion late Wednesday ripped through a district of Afghanistan's capital that houses embassies and the headquarters of NATO's peacekeeping mission, a NATO spokesman said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries from the blast, said Lt. Col. Riccardo Cristoni, a spokesman for the NATO peacekeeping mission.

The explosion occurred about 11 p.m., Cristoni said. It rattled windows across town, witnesses reported.

21. Huge Explosion Rocks Afghan Capital (This one has slightly more info)
Huge Explosion Rocks Afghan Capital
Apr 19th - 1:24pm

By PAUL GARWOOD Associated Press Writer

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - A massive explosion believed to have been caused by a rocket shook the Afghan capital late Wednesday near the diplomatic area where the U.S. Embassy is located, a police official said. At least one policeman was wounded.

A large plume of white smoke rose into the air.

The explosion occurred at the state TV building, which is next to the heavily fortified U.S. Embassy and the base for NATO-led forces in the capital, a police official at the scene said.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was unauthorized to speak to the media, said the blast was apparently caused by a rocket targeting the U.S. Embassy building.

Embassy spokesman Lou Fintor could not confirm if the blast targeted the heavily guarded American mission, where staff rushed to a bunker in the compound.

23. You know what surprises me about this?
that it wasn't a barrage of several rockets. Why wouldn't insurgents/Taliban/Al Qaeda/evil-doers just launch a volley of rockets and inflict some major damage? I'm glad they didn't but I have to wonder at smallish attacks like this.

25. In reality this is no big deal
When I was stationed in Afghanistan for the Loya Jirga we had plenty of Rocket attacks. It's not hard to let fly with a 122mm or 108mm to be launched sans launching system into Kabul. If this report was of multiple rockets then you'd have something but don't read into this as a resurgence of the Taliban.

Unlike Iraq, Afghanistan has been ground into the dirt with violence over the last 25 years. And (now this is important) is one possible scenario of Iraq.

Afghanistan had the huge invasion and insurgency with the Soviets form 81-89. After the soviets pulled out a civil war broke out between several factions. (The history of which is very interesting but to much to get into now). Fighting in Kabul included indiscriminate daily rocket attacks over the mountains which split the city in half. this went on until 94/95 or so, the rise of the Taliban pushed the other forces north away form Kandahar and Kabul and controlled more and more of the land with the pogroms and internecine fighting associated with a civil war. Then came the American phase. By which time the Afghanistan citizens had been beat down into submission and were ready for peace.

So, come 2026, Iraq will be pacified by grind down fighting, although I don't know what occupying force will reap the "benefits" probably Iran and Turkey.
