Drunken(R) Senate Staffer loses Job after screaming at the police
An allegedly foul-mouthed Florida State football fan arrested after the Boston College game has lost her job with a Florida senator.

Amanda Schweitzer, 25, of Winter Park, Fla., resigned from the office of U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Florida), the senator's spokesman announced yesterday.

Schweitzer allegedly screamed obscenities at police and reportedly lied about who she worked for after refusing to leave the stadium after BC's 28-17 loss to FSU on Sept. 17.

She admitted to officers that excessive drinking led to her unruly behavior, according to a police report. >>>>>.snip

1. That kinda sucks...
I mean, shouldn't you be allowed to be drunk and rowdy at a football game? Isn't that the point?

3. She said at first she worked for a democrat (Nelson) and threaten cops
Schweitzer is accused of telling police her boss, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Florida) would take care of the cops. She got arrested anyway in BC's Shea Field, according to a police report.
After finding a recent article on the arrest online, Nelson's press secretary stated that Schweitzer has never worked for them.
While Internet articles say Schweitzer, 25, was a staff aide for Martinez, a spokeswoman at that senator's Washington office said she was a research assistant.

25. Not slobbery falling down pathetic ... nope that didn't even fly
at our Cornhusker (U of Nebr at Lincoln) football games on chilly November Saturdays. We'd awake and begin drinking peppermint schnapps in our hot cocoa. Basically we kept buzzed all day.

But no, anyone "lose it" and act like a total a**, they'd get their butts arrested. We need less "angry drunks" AND less drunks in general. :P

And exactly what was Martinez' "regret" at accepting her resignation?
The only regret he should have expressed was that she resigned before he could fire her sorry ass.

I think you meant power vs alcohol.

I like a fine chianti with my dinners!!!!

Silence of the lambs:
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

17. Nelson should make an issue of this
He should publicly demand an explanation from Martinez why he didn't fire her and what his "regret" was in accepting her resignation. Does he condone that sort of lying, drunken behavior and disparaging of another United States Senator?

Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 06:06 PM by Divernan
But he didn't have to resign his job, did he? Or is he jobless, like the rest of the young Bushes? And what's Noelle Bush up to nowadays? Remember all those sanctimonious Republican women whining "What will we tell the children? - evidently they told the young GOP kids to get blind drunk, shout obscenities, lie about Democrats and resist arrest. It's called staying on message!
