Texas Billboards Feature Osama, Arafat
FORT WORTH, Texas -- A Texas radio station has sparked some controversy by erecting not-so-flattering billboards featuring al Qaida head Osama bin Laden, former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

The signs say "Two down, one to go," an apparent reference to Arafat's death and Saddam's toppling by a U.S.-led invasion last year. There are also signs that have bin Laden alone that say "Some people want you dead." There are about 20 signs around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

"We wanted to get people's attention," said Lon Bason, general manager of KLIF-AM talk radio station. "We knew this would strike a chord."
...
"I'm a strong Republican and a strong Bush supporter," he said. "But I'd like to believe we're above that. I'd like to think we have more class. That looks to me like it's low-class."

Bason was unrepentant.
"We knew some people would be offended by them. But they prefer to ignore the facts of the world we live in these days," he said.

1. I guess it's not
ignoring the facts of the world we live in by perpetrating the lie that these three are connected.

And the lie that the United States is safer because of Arafat's death or the capture of Saddam.

2. KLIF is ultraconservative
They are sponsoring a trip to go meet O'Really in NYC.

It's a piece of crap station that cloaks itself in the flag every chance they get.

5. Here is their station webpage---their "banned commercial"
http://www.klif.com/index.html

Take a peek at their commercial that Dallas station refused to show..
baby in the scope of a rifle, downtown Dallas being blown up.

BTW...the main page has a link to their advertisers. If the station won't listen to people writing them, maybe a hit on their pocketbook would get the point across??

I can see why that was rejected. To say that is over the top is a great understatement.

Fire that ad consultant.

3. What a bunch of farking iceholes... since shrubby has decided that he can
reshape the minds of every frigging person on the planet it is now two down and MILLIONS TO GO!!!!!!!!! Dumbasses.

Charlatans, vaudeville comedians, swindlers, truth destroyers, pawns, puppets, pagan propagandizers, tools, rubes, phonies, misled, misguided, misinformed, malthinking, magnanimous, muttonheads....

No I don't like the slant they are trying to put on the Saddam, Bin Laden, Arafat issue. They need to put up a billboard that shows the facts... but then that would put them woefully out of character...

http://www.americanfreepress.net/10_07_01/Bush___Bin_Laden_-_George_W__B/bush___bin_laden_-_george_w__b.html
President Bush and the bin Laden family have been connected through dubious business deals since 1977, when Salem, the head of the bin Laden family business, one of the biggest construction companies in the world, invested in Bush's start-up oil company, Arbusto Energy, Inc.

James R. Bath, a friend and neighbor, was used to funnel money from Osama bin Laden's brother, Salem bin Laden, to set up George W. Bush in the oil business, according to The Wall Street Journal and other reputable sources.

Through a tangled web of Saudi multi-millionaires, Texas oilmen, and the infamous Bank of Credit and Commerce International, Bush was financially linked with the bin Laden family until Salem met an untimely end in a freak flying accident near San Antonio in 1988.

4. billboards get a lot of attention, that is why I thought it was such a
good idea, when someone on DU was talking about us getting together and putting some up against Bush, the war, etc. I would still like to do it, it would get more attention than just home made signs, though those are great.

7. It would be nice to see some outcry over this
Dictators in other countries like Iran have this kind of propaganda sanctioned. This is the proof that we have religious fundamentalists (perversionists) running our country.

I'm sure that Iran has people who want to see the government get changed over there, but they see us as even worse after the Iraq debacle.

11. Do these billboards increase the fear?
Doesn't anyone wonder why Bush doesn't bother getting OBL? Remember when he said he "doesn't think about him much anymore". So, if the billboard says OBL wants you dead, and Bush doesn't think about OBL anymore, where does that you leave you?

It probably means you should vote for anyone but Bush.

They run O'really's Fear Factor, Glenn (clueless) Beck, Dr.(I was pretty stupid to pose naked) Laura, Alan (pretend democrat) Colmes, and other RW morons (sorry, morans).

They also carry FOX as their news source.
