The babysitter was living in public housing. For the past several years subsidized housing has been part of the e-verify system and it's likely the babysitter's address showed up when cross-checking school district data (they also check INS, court, credit, etc.). The babysitter is probably losing her housing because the e-verify would indicate the mother and son were living illegally in the subsidized housing unit. The mother not on the lease was being prosecuted via the school district complaint.

I'm surprised this e-verify thing hasn't gotten more attention. Imagine if the wealthy were having their digital information accessed and cross-referenced monthly!
