207. WI Boycott of State Farm (Gov Walker/ALEC based) SVP State Farm admits 'use ALEC' - Boycott a go...
... according to this Facebook Boycott Gov Scott Walker page:
http://www.facebook.com/notes/boycott-scott-walker-contributors/state-farm-boycott-is-on/117722208308804

...plan to organize a national boycott of State Farm in response to their participation on the ALEC Private Enterprise Board, through the membership of State Farm Counsel Roland Spies. I plan to contact the media, create a YouTube video, reaching out to State Farm members throughout the country to support this boycott. The boycott will end when State Farm publicly disavows their participation on ALEC and returns to focusing on improving, not destroying, their members' lives.

Below is a paste of the text of the letter; I have linked the actual PDF here:

Clips from State Farm Response by Louise Perrin, Senior Vice President of State Farm:

...The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is just one of many diverse groups with which we will continue to work. Mr. Roland Spies represents our company with this particular organization and his focus is on insurance-related matters.

Contrary to what has been portrayed, ALEC exists chiefly as a forum to research and promote discussion on public policy matters. It is legally prohibited from making campaign contributions due to its tax entity status. Many of Wisconsin’s largest employers, including major insurance companies, participate in ALEC among other such organizations. At State Farm, our work with ALEC is limited to research projects for use by public officials considering matters that impact the affordability and accessibility of insurance.

"BOYCOTT" even got the attention of the Koch brothers.

ALEC is creating a situation in which - We are no longer citizens? Represented by rubber stamps signing there laws instead of addressing issues that impact 'We the People"?

SO BE IT. We will act as informed consumers. See if they can maintain their mega-wealth and buying of our State Houses then.

Maybe call this "political consumerism" vs. political activism. Send them a text "I didn't buy your product today because...."
