I was a federal employee for 30 years until recently. When I started the benefits were about average for people working in white collar jobs for large corporations. Auto workers got better benefits and retirement. My dad got better benefits working for the Gillette co. In fact, his retirement was a good deal more generous than mine. Over the last 30 years pay, benefits and retirement have been slowly and steadily stripped from workers in the private sector. Now that they've taken all of that they're coming for the public sector workers. They won't stop until they have it all or until we make them.
