It's what the insurance company calls the cancellation notice.

JUAN WILLIAMS: What happened was the White House invited a small group of journalists over to talk with the president. I can't tell you what the president said, that is off the record. But I met with other senior officials at the White House and I can tell you they are in full fight mode over the Affordable Care Act right now. What you hear from these senior officials is, you know, they're concerned about what happened with insurance companies.

They wish the insurance companies hadn't sent out the cancellation notices and if they had, that they simply call them renewals. And, they feel right now, as if, you know, they had a major systems failure, major management failure and they're trying to get back on track. Their big concern right now is with people who had those cancellation notices and making sure those people feel they have been taken care of. They feel they have to turn that around, as the first step in trying to repair the damage that's been done to this president.

This is puzzling, given what Obama said at a public, televised presser. Then, he said that he thought that the press had sometimes "slapped" him when he did not feel he deserved it, but this one (broken promise about health insurance policy cancellations) is "on me." Of course, that was not his first reaction. His first reaction was to claim he had said something different in 2009-10, but then video got played again and again. Amazing that he did not see that coming.

It's also amazing that there is even some vague notion that the insurance companies would have, on their own, thought to invent a new name for a cancellation notice in order to avoid embarrassing the White House.

Bottom line: I hate Obamacare. However, this cancellation business is a tempest in a teapot. It could have been avoided entirely, if proper explanations had been given 2009-10.

"Yes, single men are going to have to have coverage for pregnancy, but single women are also going to have to have coverage for Viagra and prostate cancer. Point is, all Americans will be treated the same. In a society, things like that happen, but living in a society gives us benefits we don't get from living alone on a deserted island."

Okay, not elegantly worded, but I am not one of the people employed full time to strategize for or write speeches for the White House.I am just a poster dashing off a quick post. I am sure someone on the payroll could have taken that concept back in 2009 and made it sing patriotically.
