I guess I should have qualified that as "organized left".

But you got to the heart of it. "They" do feel threatened by the leftish nature of the nation. That is why they do everything in their power to shove us rightward. They are going to ridiculous lengths to achieve this. But the Obama is a socialist/communist meme is the perfect example. Most of the nation is to the left of Obama but according the the right wing pundits there is no further left than Obama.

I remember the Rachel Maddow program where she explained how the American people were "left" when polled on the issues. She was so effective that I copied this to preserve as a reminder of where the nation's sentiments actually lie.
