Besides, I am very familiar the points you cite. Everyone makes them, or tries to. I used to make those arguments myself. But, they don't stand up. They are, IMO, convenient memes and part of the red team, blue team paradigm that I believe we need to see through and move beyond--if it is not too late.

You cannot cite Citizens United to support your original post. That decision is way too recent to account for the past thirty years, or even the past four.

Besides, if you think Citizens United permits anything that the candidates were not already doing, including bundling donations from overseas (China and other Asian nations, Saudi Arabia, etc.), respectfully, you are mistaken.

However, as you argue so hard that Democrats are helpless in the face of Republicans, media and the worls in general, you may want to bear these questions in mind:

If Democrats are indeed that helpless against Republicans and everything else, why would they deserve to be voted into positions of power?

And, even if they deserved to be voted into positions of power despite their helplessness, what good would it do to vote them into in positions of power?
