74. As far as personal journeys I grew up in a union household.
I moved to Washington DC as a young adult and it really turned me off politics. I only got involved when Obama became a candidate (Jan 2008 when I joined I was working on the primary here in Texas). I remember butting heads with you a bit during that time and being unable to figure out why you were questioning a democratic candidate. As the campaign progressed through the summer I not only understood your concerns, but started voicing my own.

I became more interested in political theory, started doing my own reading, and find that I'm not a liberal. My union background is deep-seated and I put community first - I'm a socialist. Where that leaves me now with the two major political parties is anyone's guess. One of my friends (maybe a few of you remember Two Americas?) suggested that it could be possible that the 2 parties were changing places, with the dems becoming the party of the status quo. This has happened before in our history. I think he may be right.
