They'd held the mortgage since '94 and solicited us to refinance last year. What I thought would be a simple transaction...we have a credit rating north of 800 and never missed a payment...turned into a circus of examining my income and assets. Screw that. I found a different underwriter and local bank that was very glad to write us a new mortgage at lower than Wells Fargo offered. Good riddence. While I'm sure my little house won't make or break them...I imagine others have encountered the red tape and took their business elsewhere. Many of these "too big to fail" banks no longer care about the little accounts...unless they can charge fees or gamble with their assets or both...
