22. Racist and a Catholic
I remember being in sister school for 12 years in the North Cambridge area of Boston where there were a lot of African American neighborhoods, and never having one non-white in any of my classes.

Discussion of Blacks in the '50s usually equated to the description of Native Americans....they were all "savages". Like all non-catholics, they were destined to burn in the flames of hell for eternity anyway. Catholic school gave us dumb believers a big jump in the education of how to become a bigot. Pat probably picked up his racism in the same way I was exposed to it.
