Sadly, look at the number of views. And that is for a top-linked video on http://october2011.org - I'm not sure how much traction this has on the boards where Anonymous recruits supporters, though. In fact, from what I can tell they don't have any traction among the so-called "Internet Hate Machine" that fueled their protests agains Scientology. They even released a video some years back pleading with denizens of the Net to participate. Just about everywhere you go across the 'Net are infested with fascist comments about the women who were pepper-sprayed. Take a gander at these comments:

i can guess that no one here actually works in either security or law enforcement.

i can tell you now from personal experience, it is a cunt of a job and his reaction is a damn sight more mild than most the people i know who are in that sector would of gone for.

i know plenty of guys who would of pulled a baton or taser out rather than pepper spray so they should be glad they only got what they did.

also peacful protesting means staying in your area marching, waving signs and chanting your slogans.

what they were doing was beyond that and required some form of response, the details for use of force puts pepper spray just above talking them down, i would love to see anyone in uniform manage to talk that lot down

--

I am a cop. People always make the mistake of rubbing their eyes when they get sprayed. Which is even more hilarious.

On the bright side, here's a comment I saved:

I'm a military police officer and I would like to say that I am ashamed of the actions of the NYPD. If my unit did any such thing to a civilian or a citizen of a occupied country there WOULD be a investigation and a court martial. They need to mobilize the national guard to protect these peaceful protesters from the police like they did in the 70s. If this goes on part this week and continues to gain steam I may join with my medical ruck. I would like to see the ARNG supply medics and jag. --rwmacy
