Incidentally, I have a young friend down your way who was very energized and worked hard in 2008. He and a number of people like him just can't see themselves voting for Obama next time out. They are looking for a real progressive. I'm up in NY where Obama is a lock. In North Carolina, it is a whole different issue. He will vote for progressives, not corporatists. That is where the election will be won or lost. When I raised this with him, he basically said he didn't mind compromise, and he didn't mind losing ( well, we all do but). What he hated was capitulation masked as compromise. I said DLC. He said, yup.
