One thing I really like about Alaska is that even though a lot of people tend to vote Republican here, we have some strong, committed progressives, as well, so you can always find someone who agrees with you. The state has been corrupted somewhat by oil and Texans, but progressivism was written into our constitution -- thus, our state-owned resources and socialist permanent fund. I also particularly like the privacy clause which has protected abortion rights and private possession of marijuana (decriminalized here since 1975). No death penalty either.

But I imagine you want to be someplace warmer. Good luck with your quest.
